1/72 Airfix Shackleton MR2

Recommended Posts

Here is my attempt at the Airfix Shackleton MR2 painted as WR963. I chose the White as I have a revell AEW which will be in the darker grey scheme. This is out of the box and was really enjoyable. It all seemed to fit together with no issues.

Painted in Tamiya paints.

Hope you like!

Smart, and sparlky white.  A tidy Shak.

I seem to recall seeing them being a bit salt and oil stained but no doubt they scrubbed up well!

There is some subtle weathering, i think the picture is a little over exposed so the grime is lost against the white.

That is a superb build Matt. Any flaws would have been so visible in the bright Welsh sunshine.

It could be RAF St Eval in the 1950s if it was not for the garden fence. Superb interior too.

Absolutely brilliant! I've often considered looking for one of these on ebay but convinced myself not to as I've already got an AEW. But looking at how lovely yours looks has changed my mind! Fantastic looking Shackleton.

Cracking result there Matt, really does look the part!  gotta love a whit Shackleton and just the right amount of weathering for my tastes.

By the way are you the chap I met at St Athan last week that is involved with the Buccs at Brunty?

It really is a great kit and two build options(with/without guns). Plenty of detail and very few fit issues. i spent far too long on the interior as its not seen, but was too good not to paint!

The wings are attached to thick spars, ive not glued them im place so its easier to store if needed. Ive got a later shack and I think it will be a nice contast in the dark grey.

If you can get a bargain, you wont regret it!

Superb job.

And a good idea to photograph that detailed interior before it was sealed away never to be seen again!
