Lord Riot
As well as Lakenheath's possibly more well known F-111Fs, the USAF also operated a wing of F-111Es at Upper Heyford in Oxfordshire. Three squadrons, the 55th, 77th and 79th flew them in the tactical strike role from 1970 until 1993. This is the old 1/72 Airfix F-111E, built pretty much OOB except for Hasegawa decals (thanks @Jabba!), a couple of extra stores (Sidewinder, jamming pod & Paveway) and the painted masking tape as wing sweep slot covers. Oh and a few tiny extras from the spares bag for in the cockpit. Painting was satin black auto spray underside and all Humbrol 'authentic' handpainted camo; 30219 tan, 34102 green and 34079 dark green. Linus
Hi Lord Riot, you did a great job, the kit is very old, but you pulled out a nice model, congratulations!!! Linus
Alpha Delta 210
Great result from such an old kit. Was it moulded in light blue plastic?
Lord Riot
Yes it was, all very pale blue. It looked rather strange until fully painted!

Simon382
Very nice indeed. I was in the RAF posted nearby at Abingdon in the early 90's and had a very close relationship with Upper Heyford. Used to meet up with our opposite numbers to go bowling. Thanks for reviving some greatmemories
Lord Riot
Thanks for the comments! It was a tougher build than I was expecting simply because of the age of the kit I think.

R159
Nice build, I spent my adolescent years not far away from Upper Heyford and remember them flying overhead almost everyday.
