красный 06 in Syria - Su-35S GWH 1/48

Hi,

My two weeks of vaccation in Germany has come to an end, and now it's time to continue with the Su-35.

I've glued the intakes in place.

The connecting taps on the intakes are a bit to long and a bit to thick, so sand and dry fit often before glueing them in place.

The cockpit has got some decals and the seat is also done.
I've laid a thin wash on the seat, but the cockpit will have to wait until this evening.

I've got some small bits to add to the cockpit.
But I'll soon have it glued to the fuselage.

To be continued.....

Hi.

What a weekend I've had. :D
My wife and I went to our summercottage without the kids this weekend.
And when we're alone we like to cook some great food and drink some fine wines.
So here are what we did this weekend.

First course.
42231510875_ef5bf0a061_h.jpg050 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
Barbequed sweetchili marinated scampi and scollops, served with some spring onions and lime.
This was washed down with a very nice dry Riesling from Rheingau.

Main course.

43135573071_383d870c29_h.jpg052 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
Barbequed chilimarinated flank steak with corn on the cob, served with a baked potato, garlic butter and a small bean sallad.
To this we had a fantastic Zinfandel from California.
This wine, Buffalo Barrel, has been aged for 90 days in old whiskeybarrels.
In my opion this must be the best "barbeque wine" this summer.

Dessert.
42416873584_eded7f753c_h.jpg053 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
A small chocolate fondant, filled with salted caramell, and two small home grown strawberries.
Served with an espresso and a small glass of port.

Cheese.
42416879554_119a0c5753_h.jpg054 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
A ripe St.Agur with some more port.

After this feast I was very satisfied.
But every weekend comes to an end, and home again I did manage to do some small thing on my Flanker last evening.

The cockpit is done.

And glued to the fuselage.

I've also started to build up the wheelbays for the main landing gear.
Lots of small little bits are there...

My plan for today is to glue the fuselage together and continue on the wheelbays.

To be continued.....

Hi.

Yesterday I glued the front sections together.
41347045460_93ce8496e2_h.jpg059 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
I thought it was too big to be able to get a good seam in one session.
I'll glue the back end together this afternoon.

And when this was drying I started to work on one of the exhausts.
28288453447_5f171c6822_h.jpg060 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

The ball joint parts are a little out of line to get them to work as intended.
So I sanded the parts with a fine sandpaper during most of the Brasil - Mexico game to get the parts to swivel.
43107934392_102c861aab_h.jpg061 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
When they're done they should look something like this.
Here all parts are only dry fitted.

I think this will be rather tricky to paint.
I guess I'll have to don the thinking cap for a while to figure out how to best do it.

To be continued.....

Hello in this very hot weather... :D

It's too hot to sit for long in my corner by the window in the livingroom to build for very long.
So my build progresses at a snails pace.

But I've glued the fuselage together.

And I've glued all the small bits in the wheel wells.

When all the bits were in place I glued the fairings in place.

When the small bits was drying I painted all the missile rail and pylons.

Now I just have to wait for an afternoon with a slighly less heat to to all the decals on them.

I'll leave the fairings clamped for the weekend, and next up will be some primer for the fuselage.

To be continued.....

Hi Armondo.

I've got the firtst pair of them eons ago from a DIY store here in Sweden, and a few years ago I found them again from an online store in the UK. Google F-clamps and you might find them.

I've got eight of them and they're my favourite clamping tool.

Hello in the heat.

After a weekend without running water in my cottages it was rather nice to come home to a sizzling hot appartment.
I discovered a leaking water pipe in the kitchen last weekend, and had plans to try and fix it this weekend.
But unfortunatelly I couldn't, and the problem was bigger than I'd expected it to be.
Water has got in under the floor, so this week I'll have to contact my insurance company, and a plumber to fix the leak.

We wasn't completely without water, we have our own well so we could get water in buckets.
And we have a nice lake as well.
We went for a swim on saturday and it was +28C in the lake.
Rather nice I think.

When we came home to the sizzling hot appartment yesterday I turned the blinds down in the livingroom so it would be possible at all to sit at my worktable.

I've clued the fins and elevators in place.

You can see on the last picture that I did get a small crack at the bottom.
But I'll fix that with Perfect Plastic Putty and some water later this afternoon.

To be continued.....

Hello again in the heat.

Yesterday I had an inspector on site to assess the damages the water leak has done to my kitchen floor in the cottage.
I’ll will hear from the insurers within a week.

When the inspector was done I drove home and tried to continue with my Flanker.
But Axel wanted help with his A400M Atlas that he's building.
Daddy had to glue the windows in the fuselage for him. (sorry no pictures)

When that was done the sun had come around the building and our livingroom started to heat up again.
It quickly turned over +30C in the livingroom and even with the blinds turned down it was too hot to sit at my worktable.

But I did manage to clean the seams on one of the slats and jamming pod.
42577378425_1aab2b673a_h.jpg074 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
And I've also glued them in place.

That was all I mangaged to do.
And since the extremly hot weather we're having here in Sweden will continue today I don't have very high hopes of doing much more today on my Flanker.
Perhaps the other slats and jamming pod.
We'll see tomorrow.

To be continued....

Hi Bosse,

I like so much your WIP that I bought from eBay UK a Su-35S; the kit is now inbound Porto for many Sukhoi Vintage Port sessions! ;)

Hello,
I said it was hot here in my neck of the woods. :jump_fire:
41684709260_8a6807da76_h.jpg075 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
This is what my thermometer showed when I got home from work yesterday afternoon.

But I didn't want a bit of heatwave hinder me from getting on with my Flanker.
So I did get the second slat and jamming pod in place.

Is it only me that gets some "Star Wars" vibes from this picture.  :D

When that had set I put some PPP on the gaps at the base of the fins and smoothed it out with some water.
