Old Viper Tester
1982 Carrier Qualifications of VAQ-129 Prowlers on CV-61 USS Ranger as she was steaming down the California coast. Only two birds running cats and traps. Not the best images, but I couldn't get them to steam north. Bureau No 158546 Modex NJ911. First landing is a "bolter", the hook didn't engage the arresting cables. Here on the go off the angled deck. Successful trap Arresting cable disengaged and hook retracted Taxiing back to make the approach to the catapult Waiting their turn for another launch with a VF-124 F-14 lining up for a trap. BuNo 159585 NJ902. She made a couple of traps and then was "chocked and chained". Either there was a maintenance problem or the crew wanted breakfast.
