Kitty Hawk 1/48 F-101 A/C «Voodoo»

Do you plan to fix intakes? Some photos above show that front edge should be perpendicular to fuselage for A/C versions, KittyHawk interpretation is ok for B version.

Oh, very interesting thing... I’m not planning to do this, but I’ll get back to the intakes after some fuselage work.

Type IIB intake for the short burner J57. The kit has the type IIIC intake for the long burner J57 of the 2 seater.

Hello guys!

There is nothing special to show you at the moment, some sanding and fuselage works:

Some improvisation, again:

The tail halves are glued together, the fuel tanks are waiting for the panel lines to be rescribed:

@bentwaters81tfw, I spotted on this image that the mid sections of the fuel tanks looks like a NMF, but FT tails and noses are not (can you explain it?):

Amazing photo, the Voodoo in full forces:

Cheers!

Tanks are NMF. Some tonal differences on some of the tanks. That shot has a Mk7 store on the centreline. Very rare to see that.

Oh I can’t spot it, but now I see 😮

Thanks! Yes, an amazing photo, I can’t take my eyes off her:

Another top quality shot:

All the best 😊

Yes, I was wondering about the tanks on this one,

You're right, Nik, it's like a brilliant piece of Sculpture!

I always think of the Voodoo as the mother of the F4Phantom- You can see the way the design team is going.

Hello friends! 🙂

Today was the glueing day, a lot of work with the big parts:

The strip lights on the wings is partially sanded out, the wings are assembled (an intakes are not cutted yet, I’m full of doubts...):

The refueling probe are pre-painted and putted into its compartment:

Another fuselage part is ready to install, but I’m not sure about the weight that instructions says to use (@rob Lyttle, is our Voodoo is a tail-sitter?):

The tail is fixed and glued to the fuselage:

Not bad at all:

Thanks for watching!

Great progress on the model and thanks to all who contributed to the photo gallery.

My kit is out of the stash and opened, I hope to start proper assembly later today.

Thanks @Silver Fox, I hope you’ll enjoy this kit! Don’t follow the instructions, please... Ask your questions and we’ll sort it out together: there are so many little tricks to do on this build, I ignored some vague «symptoms» and have a lot of problems now 🤔

Cheers!

I filled the nose cone - definitely remember doing that. Probably with plasticine.

I think I put some extra in the front of the fuselage as there is quite a lot of plastic out the tail.

But the Voodoo is not too bad.

The main wheels are back a good distance and there is plenty of front fuselage.

So give it some, but don't have to go crazy

I think about it, too. I had reading the review over the Internet about another Voodoo build and the builder says that the weight is not necessary part.

OK, got it!

I just read through my WIP and can't find more information on weight.

You getting problems.....??

Here's the thread if it's any help

but a lot of it is about doing foil!😃

Not a lot of problems, but the fit is not perfect sometimes... Thanks for this very informative thread, I read this with a lot of interest 🤓
