Ready for inspection is my 1:72 Academy JU87G-2 Stuka. This is the first Academy kit I have built and at £8 it was well worth the money. The build ran nice and smoothly, went together with little to no filler needed, and with a nice amount of detail. My only issue came when I lost the cannons, I researched contacting Academy, but decided against it when I read that Academy rarely send replacements. Instead I brought another kit (no hardship as I'd enjoyed this one so much.) Once the replacement arrived the build was quickly completed, I have to say I really like the camo patterns of German WW2 aircraft.

Nice Stuka.

One hint, sometimes lite application of tamiya extra thin cement can "eat" silvering. But you need to be careful, as also can eat decals.....

Nice work!

As I remember there is a  problem of the Academy kit in nose lenght (the same as for B variant). It is difficult to correct.

Pardon my ignorance but what's going on there on the weapons pylons?  Never seen that before (granted, I'm not the most proficient plane-spotter in Shepherds Bush).  Are they some kind of cannon the Luftwaffe bolted on as a modification?

Hi Michelle,

the bird is now free! Well done!

Academy decals... been there... the sensible way to proceed is to bin them before starting a build and go with anything but!

You can try to gentleman's parts the decal with a needle and paint some MicroSol and Microset on top. It tends to help them settle and remove those horrid air bubbles!!!

A great build nonetheless!

Don't you just love how the [US] internet likes to keep us on the straight and narrow........!!!

Suggest, Michelle, that you don't use "gentleman parts" on the decal [for a variety of reasons - make your own up !!]

As Jean suggested, just p.r.i.c.k. it with a needle instead.........!!

Nice build !!

They are 37 mm anti armour guns

Great build Shellie, I've just done the Revell version, it's on inspection part of site.  The flash was appalling and the pilots seat needed sanding prior to the canopy even remotely fitting.  The fuselage fit and wings well let's just say it's improved my skills with Milliput.  One thing I will say though the decals went on like a dream.

Looking at the pics you put on the Academy looked flash free and a lot more detailing than the Revell.  ATB..

What a brute.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't do wingy things, but if I did I'd certainly include a Stuka. This G variant has to be my favourite by a mile. I saw a documentary recenlty where these tank busters were filmed on the Eastern Front absolutely annihilating T34s. I assume they were filmed from other Ju87G's. It must be pretty rare footage as it was filmed during the last couple of months of the war. If I can find a link to the programme I'll share it here.

Rearguards,

Badder.
