tempestfan
The pic of the Chief's head decorated machine is included in some book on the RAF published by Ian Allan in I think the early 70s, the author escapes me (edit: In some cases it makes sense to google - it will be Pictorial Hist. of the RAF Vol. 2 by Taylor & Moyes). The companion volume on the Luftwaffe was authored by Alfred Price. Definitely one of the most attractive (of rather few published) Baltimore schemes ! Good luck in finding out more, the Baltimore seems to be/have been an unloved child, both to the RAF and to authors... Junchan
This photo is a part of the IWM photo collection and the image is available from the URL below. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205209407 The photo caption says as follows. Martin Baltimore Mark V, FW332 'R' "Redwing", of No. 13 Squadron RAF, taxies out for a night sortie over the Gothic Line at Cecina, Italy. The bomb-tally on the nose of the aircraft indicates that it had carried out a total of 80 operations, 66 of which were at night. It also appears in Ian Allan book, Pictorial History of the Mediterranean Air War Volume Two by Christopher F. Shores along with a closeup shot of the nose with the 7 crews standing in front of it.
