tonyot
Hiya Folks, While researching my dark blue 3 PRU (lndia) Mitchell from 1942 I couldn`t resist re visiting the later PRU Blue scheme and so I have decided to build another Airfix kit to replace my old Italeri kit which was built wearing PRU Blue colours many years ago! Here is the box and contents; DSCF3130 by Tony OToole, on Flickr And with the DK Decals set which includes a PRU Blue option along with the Royal Blue one that I have already started; DSCF3131 by Tony OToole, on Flickr Some of the parts have been taken from the sprue to make pre painting easier, with some added to a length of Tamiya tape to prevent them from going waslkabout.... and I`ll be pre painting the model tonight while watching `The Greatest Showman' film on telly! Skids
This GB is becoming the "How many B-25s can Tony do!" Not complaining as I always admire your speed and great finished kits. And this one I will be looking forward too seeing the final result. Simon
tonyot
Cheers lads,....... I do get a bit carried away with these GB`s at times!! Right,...... been busy today,..... this morning got the interior together,.... again I painted the cockpit Dark Green with the rest of the interior in Humbrol 226 Interior Green enamel; DSCF3158 by Tony OToole, on Flickr DSCF3159 by Tony OToole, on Flickr Then I got the fuselage halves together; DSCF3161 by Tony OToole, on Flickr Followed by the wings, engines etc; DSCF3160 by Tony OToole, on Flickr DSCF3162 by Tony OToole, on Flickr I`ve since got the tail assembled too and fixed to the fuselage along with the wings and then left it overnight for the glue to dry, Cheers Tony
tonyot
Hiya Folks, Well got the airframe together; DSCF3177 by Tony OToole, on Flickr And then with seams sanded the model is almost ready to paint,..... but I still need to find a suitable clear cupola for the mid upper position. I was going to use the vacuformed part seen in front of the model, from a B-24 set,.... but it is too small for the opening,..... so I`m thinking of closing the gap with plasticard and then drilling a new hole out? DSCF3189 by Tony OToole, on Flickr For anybody building the kit be careful when fitting the canopy as if too much pressure is placed on it, the back edges can splay open and snap the canopy,..... I did this with my first kit! So when applying tape here, I had my finger and thumb on each side of the canopy to stop the back edges from slipping! Cheers for now, Tony Edited May 2, 2018 by tonyot 3
tonyot
Hiya Folks, I`m a bit stalled on this one while I try to sort the cupola out,.......I`ll get there though! In the meantime here are the camera ports drilled out; DSCF3196 by Tony OToole, on Flickr Cheers Tony

Haha,.... yeah cheers Trevor!! Well,..... having spent the morning glueing strips of plastic around the edge of the mid upper gun position, I covered it with filler,.....ready to open it up and leave enough around the edges to hold the vacuformed cupola; DSCF3202_NEW by Tony OToole, on Flickr I`ll be building some camera reproductions to fit inside the fuselage as the cupola is crystal clear! tonyot
Hiya Folks,...... time for some paint! I`ve used Polly Scale PRU Blue which is quite a light coloured version of the colour,.... but it would be ideal to replicate the sun bleached Mitchell`s which were serviced outside iunder the baking Indian sunshine. First coat goes on; DSCF3219_NEW by Tony OToole, on Flickr And the 2nd coat,..... the clear cupola has also been dry fitted into its hole; DSCF3226_NEW by Tony OToole, on Flickr It might need another light coat,.... we`ll see! modelling minion
Yet another fantastic model Tony. The colour looks really good and the weathering is really nice and subtle. How you manage to turn out so many excellent models so quickly is beyond me.
