Bullbasket
Took me a while to realise that this is a what if. Quite a handsome looking beast and there's some good scratch work there. I think that strip of steel running across the glacis that Lloyd mentioned was part of the wading gear, although I could be wrong (and I often am), to prevent the water washing up and over into the hatches. John.

robw_uk
i think the build is done... going to leave off the storage on the rear plate. Only thing I cant decide is on the skirt - anyone ? keep or leave off (of course if I do add then 1 or 2 will be missing, there will be damage - and does open up options for sheet metal so heavily rusted (perhaps I will paint them up then decide - and of course the patriotic slogan could be on them!!!) Hamden
Build looks top notch Rob, I'm undecided on the question of skirts Looking forward to seeing it in paint Roger

I am going to cut the skirts out and paint them and then decide....
Redcoat2966
For me, I'm a no skirt. I like to see all the track sag and wheel detail. Unless you have just some of them on and have a couple missing - best of both worlds. Simon.
PlaStix
Great progress Rob! You have done an amazing job with all the modifications! Looking forward to seeing it with some paint on! Kind regards, Stix

robw_uk
a variation on the LOPEZ method... black with white addition (rather than white with black).... next it will be chipping, oil stains (going to do this before the base green).... ok so its not neat but the variation "SHOULD" be visible... Redcoat2966
Hi Rob Just embarked on the same B&W myself. Would look forward to your take on this method when your done........I think really thin multiple coats is the way to go, and ratchet up the shade of main colour. I'm going to test an old hulk I have first. Simon.
Bullbasket
I like it when the paint job brings it all together. What's the finish going to be? Question for you Rob, totally unrelated to this build. Was it you who was discussing in someone else's thread, about thinning Winsor and Newton acrylic varnish? I can't find the thread and I've bought something similar, namely Daler and Rowney. I need to thin it, but don't know what to thin it with. Sorry if it wasn't you. John.

John. thanks John... its going to be all green (Russian Green 1 from Mr Hobby) with a white stripe front to back down the middle (seems to be something revolutionary units did in Hungary).. it was me on the W&N varnish. unfortunately (or fortunately for me) it doesnt need thinning - sprays perfectly straight out the pot.... Redcoat2966
Hiya Rob, looking good... ......what's the final main colour going to be?.....light or dark? I just did the interior of my Steyer.....and with the German Grey the white highlighting disappeared on me......I'm hoping the Dunkelgelb sometime tomorrow will show the white highlights through.....🤔. If not I'll have to go back in reverse and add the dark to light sequence again. Simon.

I can never get that to spray well so I need to mix some up and practice on my test bed (and airfix 1/72 goose).

Maybe the Daler Rowney product is different in some way as there's no way it will spray straight from the bottle. It is quite viscus. I have some ISO Proponol. Is that the same thing? John. robw_uk
its all gone streaky - hoping the green (thinned very low pressure) will tie it all together... that should be tomorrows job IMG_20180622_190210 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180622_190155 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180622_190202 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180622_190147 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180622_190135 by Robert Worth, on Flickr
robw_uk
it seems to have gone green!!!! am expecting further weathering will tone it down a bit IMG_20180623_160132_1 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160208 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160225 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160253 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160235 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160345 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160327 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180623_160320 by Robert Worth, on Flickr
Redcoat2966
Hi Rob Actually mate I think your there really. I’ve realised you have to up the luminance of colours prior to weathering. I just put a filter on my Wespe, and I have to say it does look nice. First time I’ve used one. Track down a filter for Russian Green and it’ll start to calm down with some nice hues. Plus with wash and pin lining it’ll all tone down and equal out. Im with Mig Jimenez on this. We are here to treated visuals stimulating results.....if you know what I mean. I’ve seen many Russian AFV’s start off with a base of nearly lime green......you don’t think it’ll work......but it does. Ive found a really cracking set of Vids on YT. I’ll aend you the link Simon Edited June 23, 2018 by Redcoat2966 Typo
