Phantom XT864 public unveiling

XT596 is indeed an FG.1 & is on display in her original pant and with all the stencils in place.

XV586 is also an FG.1, Ex-43 Squadron Ex-Ex-892NAS.  She is not on permeant display and annoyingly has her ILS aerials on the fin.

I get that you were joking though.  Hence squid!😉

Stunning just Stunning, congratulations to all involved and thank you sniperUK for sharing. Interesting to see (as it was lifted on to the trailer) the reinforcement plate applied under the wings. I knew about this being fitted to the F-4J (UKs) not to the FG.1.

Having seen just a snippet of how to dismantle and then put together a real Phantom will stop me from ever complaining about making either the Fujimi or Airfix kits.

The immense number of hours of effort that were given to turning a gate guardian into the stunning aircraft we can now see makes me feel really humble.

I cannot now ever moan about building a model in the warmth of my own home.

Brilliant work from all of the UAS team, thanks to you all.

Wow she looks good! I was fond of her in the 43 Sqn markings, but this is fantastic. Did the cockpit get a full refurb? I notice the nose wheel extended, does the operate hydraulically?

Well she never served with 43 ,just put in their markings when on the gate at Leuchars. The front cockpit is mostly complete with the rear still needing some work including a full seat. Yes they have the nose gear hydraulics working with a bit of help with compressed air, other systems are being worked on to give more "working features"

Beautiful, and all the more annoying that Yeovilton don't have their 892 FG.1 on permanent display!

I notice that not many of the stencils are on either of the repainted aircraft!.🤫

Hmm look mate they have enough trouble with the Sea Harrier.....every morning it annoys me that the strakes are missing.

Our toom is pulled out once a year for air day.

Come to think of it .....keeping current aircraft is a job in itself 🙄

I was joking, but at the same time I did mistakenly, and briefly, think it was an FGR.2, thank you for that!:thanks:

I know that it is a separate project, but the work that is being done on the Gannet is tremendous.  The poor old thing was left to fall into disrepair, and later cut and dumped on it's side, so to see what is happening to XA460 now is brilliant.

Excellent (and useful) pics of the Phantom again!
