Great stuff.

Those barrels are the business!

I got an old monogram P47 that is going to get a set of those when the time comes. Thanks for the push.👍

Cheers Rob, they are just bits of 0.7 mm Albion Alloys Micro Tubing.

Beware though, if its the same moulding as the barrels are port/starboard sexed .

You got some industrial strength mojo! You're making great progress!

Thank you Amo Aero, having a choice of stash this one popped up quite nicely.

A bit of a pain in places but what is not!!!

Right, back to the bench, I mean spray booth.

Priming with Alcad 2 Black Primer Filler.

Prime 1

Prime 2

Prime 3

And now for some Yellow Green, a bit loud I know, but once a "Black wash" is added it will tone it down.

SAF 1

SAF 2

SAF 3

SAF 4

Not much else can be done until Friday as the kids and GDot are coming to see us on Thursday.

No, this one is way older.

Raised panel lines, and all the guns, aerials etc have been moulded on to the main wing and fuselage pieces.

The only holdup really is the canopy transparency is missing.

I need to get into some plunge moulding methods.

Yeah, I have one of these in the stash too. As a Jug fan (what guy isn't?), I would love to build it, but its odd engineering has intimidated me so far. Following your build is an inspiration--thank you!

It is a nice kit, if you take your time with it.

The cockpit is nicely detailed for oob but once the pilot is fitted there is not a lot to see.

Also, dry fit carefully the tub, the back wall needs to be raised and at right angles to the sides.

The U/C bays should really be painted before fitting too, I made that mistake LOL.

It is 79 vintage, so bound to be a bit soft details, but it`s a easy build.

Looking brilliant Simon. I didn’t think you had updated then I notice I hadn’t pressed the “ follow” button. Doh!

now I’ve done a catch up I can follow along at a steady pace. Lovely looking office btw😀

@Amo Aero, if you want a breeze of a build first to whet your appetite, you can try the hobbyboss "easy build".

Mine basically fell together - I just wanted to play with the Nmf finish.

It makes quite a presentable airframe at no cost to your patience!

Thanks all for the comments.

Time for a quick update.

I did not like the Yellow/Green, too bright, so gave the offending bits a coat of Mr Hobby 58.

SAF 4

SAF 5

SAF 6

SAF 7

SAF 8

SAF 9

Some bits that need to be Aluminium.

Silver bits.

Then added some Light Grey XF 19?

R 1

The destructions call out for Steel on the rocket bodies but my Steel colour Vallejo was cocked.

Anyhow, may have time to do a little more tonight.

Smooth job there, Simon - especially the aluminium parts 👏 What kind of paint have you been using for that, please?

Thanks mate 👍

I'm very much reconsidering Tamiya Metallics, after the good result I got on my A-10 engines and what I see here and on other builds

Nice color! :)

Interior color isn't as easy as one could wish. Checked a bit, and on some it looks like on your first try, and on some it looks more like the current color.

Cockpit seems to a bit darker green though.

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks Hakan, Giemme and Amo Aero.

Right, back to business after a brief interlude called life.

Wheel bays/flaps varnished and washed and varnished again.

WW 1

WW 3

WW 2

The fuselage had its bits put in.

SC 1

SC 2

Also I blocked of the aerial hole from the inside.

I will fit this later , hence the bodge.

SDA 2

Wings together, how many pegs...

HMP

Thats all for now.

Let wings set overnight.

Next the joining up of the fuselage and cockpit, of which I am not looking forward to.

All comments welcome.

Hello Simon,

Pretty good job on your Jug !

Really appreciate the thread !

I also used aftermarket gun barrels on mine !

Those plastic "things" are not worth the pain to work on it, good choice !

Can't wait to see her finished !

Sincerely.

Thanks Hakan , CC ,and Giemme.

Slowly getting there.

Right , that fuselage and cockpit tub.

Fitted in place.

Cock in

It fell out.

Cock out

Oh well.

F 1

A quick mock up.

G.Big 2

The wings though need a little work.

WF 1

The other side is worse at the wing root.

The leading edges need some careful work.

WF 2

But the upper fuselage join does not look to bad after a quick rub (fnar)

WF 3

The lower join is not to bad either.

BTW the wings have not been attached yet , as I have the cockpit tub to fix into place somehow.

The locating area is very small, so I am thinking on that one.

Off for a coffee and fink.
