Oh well.

THAT'S the Spirit....

"Nought Shall Fluster!" 😃

Don't know if this is any help....

In between things, I have an old monogram P47 that I have a play with.... if only I had two, a pair of jugs would've completed that sentence in a classic style.....

Anyway, I had to rescue the tub from falling about inside the closed fuselage and glue it back in position.

There must be something particular about the 47 that makes tub fitting awkward.

So, I ended up drilling a hole in the bottom right under the tub, I think about 2.5mm to suit a sturdy bit of sprue, and glued it in to push the tub up into position and hold it there.

Trimmed sprue after all dried.

The cockpit hasn't budged since.

Dunno if you want to be so boisterous with your lovely specimen.

Looking SO good

WHY WOULD IT DO THAT?!?

Sorry for the double entry....

I have no idea....!😠

It`s called sod`s law Rob, bleeding computers LOL.

Thanks for the idea of using a "Prop" inside the fuselage.

I had a similar idea though not drilling through the fuselage.

Also I am going to build up the mating areas of the pit.

Will post pics of what I mean when done.

Thanks folks.

A quick update.

SEAMS...

Seams were attacked this way

Mask the area and apply filler (Squadron Green)

F 2

The same with the wing tips.

WT 1

Remove tape ans sand smooth.

F 3

Apply a bit of Primer with hairy stick.

F 4

WT 2

Leave to dry and polish from there I suppose.

Have a great weekend.

All comments welcome.

Can't see no seams no more, guv'.

Lovely job!

Ciao

Edit: not sure why, but I wasn't receiving notifications from this thread any more. Odd

Now should be fixed, hopefully

Thanks Giemme, no seams.

Well, here is a cautionary tale.

I decided to polish up the underside using a buffing mop in my Dremel clone.

O F 1

OH, what a twit.

I also had tried it on the wings too.

O F 3

Nowt there bar a skim of filler and a light rub with the MM.

I gave the effected area on the fuselage a coat of Alcad primer to see how bad it looks...

O F 4

That bad....

Oh well , out with the filler again.....

A lesson learned, don`t f. with it if it looks OK.

All comments welcome.

Definitely not. Sorry to hear about your trouble - I only use the Dremel when I need to sand off PE or polish canopies, with the dedicated tool. I tried the latter on regular plastic too, and it seems pretty effective. As I said, only for polishing though; it's easy to overheat plastic with any other Dremel tool

Thanks Giemme.

Oh well back to the usual ritual.

Masked the belly of the beast, adding marking where the panel lines run.

Belly fill 1

Went to mask the wing and this happened.....

OH Fk 1

OH Feck, , at least its salvageable.

Wing masked.

Wing fill 1

So the build goes on.

How many more things can I mess up LOL.

All comments welcome.

Keep going, Simon - you will prevail 👍

You'll have to pin that gear leg to repair it, but that can only add to robustness, so in the end you're actually improving the kit 😉

Incidentally, I never glue in wheel struts till the very final stages, if I can avoid it: I'm positive I'd break them off multiple times each before completing the build .... :chair:

I don`t normally Giemme, but they were moulded as part of the wheel bay walls so I had to.

WOW, sorry folks, I have been away from this build for too long.

So I apologise to all.

Right, the underside was dealt with a now just needs a polish.

So the next thing was the cockpit tub, or should I say lack of fixing surface.

The back end.

T P 1

Cleared roughly of paint.

Three bits of strip cut roughly to size.

T P 2

And trimmed.

T P 3

And fitted.

These once dry will allow me to fit a bit of 3 mm x 3 mm across the top  and give more surface to glue the tub in place.

Similar will take place up front to, but no packing needed.

And now for the gun barrels.

G Prob 1

The lot on the right  are correct, but the one to the left looks right but is not.

The guns on a P 47 run in a horizontal azimuth , so they bisect the leading edge of the wing.

Numb nuts here forgot abut checking the fitting of the plastic first and got things the wrong way round.

So, out with the cutters and drill, and few minutes late the files and this was left.

G Prob 2

I just need to cut some fresh barrels for this and we are back in action again.

Those whom the gods would drive mad, they first get them to fill and sand endlessly!

I like what you're doing here Simon and the calm sense of purpose that you have about your work.

Keep it up my friend!

Yes folks, tackling each job in it`s own time so to speak.

Anyhow, a little update.

coming along very nicely

Thank you Shalako, a bit slow at times but heading in the right direction.

Perfect surgery on that leg, Simon  😉

Ciao

Cheers Giemme,it was easier than I thought, 0.6 mm hole, 0.5 brass rod, gave a little room for play.

Update 3.

Them gun barrels.

Parts ready.

G Prob 3

I cut a backing board as the fit into the wing is not good.

G Prob 4

Then trimmed length wise before fitting the brass tubes.

G Prob 5

G Prob 6

A blob of C/A to secure for now.

I will leave that to set overnight before a quick file to clean up.

With that done, it just leaves the rockets (blood ejector pin marks), drop tanks/pylons/stays, and gunsight to sort out.
