Delayar
Hi Folks, Here is my recently finished Tamiya Tomcat depicting "Miss Molly", a Tomcat of the VF-111 Sundowners as it was painted in 1989. It is the 1/48 Tamiya kit with decals from Furball Aero Sesign (Sundowners Anthology) I used some aftermarket to bring the cat to block 125 standard: Steel Beach vinyl tail stiffeners Steel Beach RWR antennas Quickboost TCS chinpod Eduard Brassin late wheels Eduard Brassin ejection seats Eduard Brassin AIM-7E + AIM-9L I had to do the painting and decals twice. because of a bad reaction in the final clear coat, I decided to strip the paint completely and restart from the bare plastic. Waethering is minimal, since at least most of the aircraft was freshly painted, at least on the few pictures available of this jet. I gave the jet a subtle pre shading and a panel line wash with Tamiya panel line enhancer in grey, and a few oil streaks in front of the engines. There ar no in-progress pictures, because it was a quite straightforward build. Cheers, markus

Delayar
Thank you! The Tamiya Tomcat is an absolut joy to build, no comparison to the Hasegawa kit ;-) The Furball Decals are also great. Cheers, Markus
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Excellent build ... I’l never see one of these cross my bench as Tamiya's products are a bit $ for my budget. Again Great looking Cat.

David H
Very nice job, Markus!! Mine is in the final stages right now. Having to put on those decals on the missiles is an exercise in patience. david

Kev The Modeller
Lovely build mate of a great aircraft Are the exhaust nozzles different for a reason?
Delayar
Hi Kev, Thank you! The one open / one closed nozzles can be seen on many parked A Tomcats. This is because of the engine shutdown sequence. The details can be found here under "F-14 engine nozzle "parking" position": http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-engine.htm Cheers, Markus
Unfinished project
Stunning clean build. Really love the 7th picture where you can see the reflection of the vertical tail on the horizontal tail surface. I would love to have a F-14 build of amazing quality on my shelf. Delayar
Thank you very much. The gloss coat is Alclad Aqua Gloss, which is really a good acrylic gloss coat. Cheers, Markus

Orion
Hello Markus, Excellent end-product. especially, reading that you had to strip the paint and had to decal again. My compliments on your attitude of persistence. (I would have binned it!) Regards, Orion.

Delayar
Thank you! As for persistence: It was already too expensive for binning it 😉 I first thought of sanding the final coat, but soon realised that I would loose surface detail and probably also some decals, so I went ahead, ordered a new set of decals (thankfully the decals were reprinted) and stripped the paint.
