HL-10
Picked up UNCL's model of SKY1 from Gerry Anderson's UFO, his first live action show. For anyone who may not know, SKY1 is a submarine launched interceptor used to take on any UFOs that get into the earth's atmosphere. UNCL's kit is cast in resin, with a vacform canopy There is also a small decal sheet, and a CD with reference photos of the studio model. The kit is scaled at 1:48th, and is a sizeable lump of resin! Have been after on of these for ages, and I managed to get one yesterday at Model Kraft. Thanks for looking Angelo.

HL-10
As already mentioned, the main body is a sizeable lump of resin: A 400g lump! I thought I would try and reduce the weight by removing some of the resin: But it was hardly worth the effort Ah well, onwards and upwards!

picard
I'm pulling up my chair for this one, if you don't mind with a beer or two now I'm 56, going on 14 again. Brilliant stuff, Ah, happy days indeed. I fear many of my beer tokens may be spent with these guys in the future, I had no idea these chaps were out there. Cheers.

HL-10
Thanks everyone, cheers for the interest! UFO was definitely a childhood favourite. I remember getting up on a sunday morning to watch it, in black & white! I have the complete series on DVD now and frequently re-watch it. Some of the scripts, and dialogue haven't weathered the sand of time too well, but the miniature effects are spectacular! Some more progress. After hollowing out the fuselage, I decided to go for a full cockpit, rather than the head and shoulders provided. I drilled out the cockpit and modified the kit's part to form a tub: I sourced an ejector seat (Monogram 1:48th F-100?) and pilot from the spares box: A close up of captain Carlin: The new cockpit module just drops into the fuselage: I have drilled into the wing roots, and fuselage to add some re-enforcement to the wing to fuselage join: Last thing. I raided Halfords for the correct colour: Thanks for looking Angelo.

Gimme Shelter
Resin kit .... loving it already. Looking forward to tagging along at your heels while you put this kit together - you can't beat a big lumpy bit of sci-fi resin ....
Kallisti
I've been tempted by this kit for a long time but I've got enough bloody resin handing around waiting to be built as it is! Looking good so far, I'd recommend decanting the Halfords paint and airbrushing it as the cans are a bit uncontrollable. I remember having problems when I painted my Imai Sky 1 a few years back - trying to avoid paint runs as the paint came out quite thin from the can and it took a LOT of coats to get a good finish.
