DaveJL
Hello all, Here is my recently completed 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18F in the markings of VFA-213 'Blacklions' during their cruise in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2017.AJ 204, BuNo 166682 dropped 110 bombs during the cruise. The build thread is here Extras used included an Aires cockpit, Pavla seats, Furball decals, Attack Squadron GBU-32s, Attack Squadron BRU-57 bomb racks and Steel Beach intake covers. I wanted a heavily weathered jet as seen in many pictures of aircraft during the cruise. This was replicated with a series of washes, both purchased and homemade, along with dry brushing and some light pigments. With my VFA-211 jet from Inherent Resolve in 2015: And my VFA-31 jet from 2017: Thanks for looking. Dave

FIGHTS ON
really good - you've nailed it with that wash. Hopefully your post is the inspiration to get my Trumpeter "E" (VFA-31) Inherent Resolve across the finishing line..although having seen your post, I need to go back to my wash effect! Any Flight Deck Officers want to have a guess at the All Up Mass (AUM) figures to be loaded into the Cat shot to get that one off the deck! It was my first attempt at using my own washes to 'soil' the paintwork after the panel wash was applied.
Gidge
Did you attach the landing gear bay doors before or after you started painting?
