Small blitz on Tamiya’s T-Rex

I believe excerable is the best word to describe this kit

At least it was cheap

Never done one, but I've always had an itch to build a dino, so I'll be watching with interest.

Body glued together and then the rear of the head cut off and attached to the torso at 90 degrees to the suggested angle

A bit of cosmetic work to remove the dewlap and liposuction around the belly

You don’t look a day older than 60million - it’s taken geological eras off you

“Blitz” was a bit over optimistic - The legs need almost totally remade and days of shaping and drying

You can start to see where I’ll go with it

Tamiya’s T-Rex

I feel your pain and resurrected my old thread so you won't have to suffer alone!

I'll look in from the sidelines if I may?

Looking good, glad more dinos are about -even though this kit does show it's age. I agree with Carts' opinion! ... You're making great progress

FYI, the T-rex in the diorama boxing is an altogether different and far superior molding.

Thanks - I knew from the pff that this was going to be a pigs ear of a base kit. Good weather has meant I’ve been out stocking up on Vitamin D rather than progressing any kits but will come back to do the legs next rainy day

As promised - a bit of rain = a bit of progress

Some trial legs to check the pose sketched on paper and then stuck to card

And then started making a more permanent pair in styrene sheet, sprue and polyfilla

Still working on getting the arm and leg position right

Reconstructive leg surgery is still ongoing but have slapped some primer on the rest of her/him to see where I am without the distraction of different substrates

I’ve decided he is a he (as he is on the small side for a T-Rex) and dub him Ken

Ken has had a sand and a bit of basecoat

and then some countershading

I’ll have a tea while I think about how to proceed

No pine needles here but after a quick beard and hair trim I might have something that could stand in for 1/35 protofeathers

No wonder he's angry. Hairy back and none on his nut.

Happens to us all with age (and he’s getting on for 65million)

I took it from vultures that if you are sticking your head into innards you probably want it bald
