Bladerunner
Hi guys, I started scratch building a 1/48 UH-60 Upturned Exhaust System (as used on the UH-60L/M) for the Italeri UH-60/MH-60 Black Hawk. The original exhaust openings were filled with epoxy clay and shaped, then the majority of upturned exhausts was built. It was becoming a bit difficult to work on the model, so the engine deck was removed. The exhaust stacks and louvers were made from plastic card. The APU outlet on the kit was rather vague, so it was drilled out and replaced with a section of aluminium tube to look more presentable. The test fit on the host kit was a bit rough, as it is missing some material where the cutting disc was used. exdraken
Great work! You'd need to cast those.....

Bladerunner
Thanks guys. The molds were made, and here is the first test casting. It's a very tricky part to cast and even more to take out of the mold, but I'm pleased with the result.
Bladerunner
Hi guys, I finally got some time to make the master for the new wider chord composite main rotor blades master to compliment the Upturned Exhaust System. Should have the molds ready soon. Should anyone be interested, please send me an e-mail to [email protected] 🙂 Cheers, John

flarpen
Looks very nice indeed. I would be interested in those blades to go with the upturned exhaust. Will you be molding them with some kind of strengthening to keep the blades from saging? /Johan
Bladerunner
Hi Johan, Glad you like the set. The blades are cast with a different resin that doesn't sag beyond what you see in the pictures. The test assembled blades has proven successful, and hasn't sagged. If you want to order a set of blades and upturned exhausts, please send me an email to [email protected] Cheers, John
