Happy Yuri's Night!

Recommended Posts

Today is 12 April, the day on which people all over the world celebrate the anniversary of the first manned spaceflight, in 1961. For many years this was known as Cosmonautics Day in the Soviet Union but has now become a world-wide phenomenon. So if you get the chance, raise a glass -- or at least spare a thought -- for Yuri Alexeyevich Gagarin, who truly did boldly go where no man had gone before.

Also the 37th anniversary of the 1st Space Shuttle flight.

That's correct. And of course we lost John Young earlier this year. Happily Bob Crippen is still with us, (presumably) going strong aged 80.

with the day of cosmonautics!
so it is called in Russia.

first person in space - Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin, and everyone knows it ... but many people unfairly forget this day about the general designer - Korolev Sergey Pavlovich.

Yuri Gagarin and Sergei Korolev are not separable in the importance of conquering space.
