^What he said. It's always important to stir Humbrol matt thoroughly before use - even the old stuff came out glossy if you didn't. My first Airfix Defiant, build way back in the early '60s, came out glossy for just that reason! (Mind you, the decals adhered well ...)

Thank you AP, I did stir it for a good few minutes.

I'll give it another stir for about 10 minutes, see if that works.

Sometimes if they haven't been mixed right. Years ago they had  a bad batch of Matt Black. A kind of half Gloss/Matt combo leaning towards Matt. It was absolutely perfect for aircraft tyre sidewalls and rubber seals.

If tins of Humbrol have  been sat around awhile they can take ages to mix properly. These days I do not use Humbrol that often because a have stopped using enamels and I do not think the acrylics are brilliant and even those seem to need a lot of stirring to mix evenly
