A wee place holder till I catch up but hope to give this an immaculate shot having done one before and impressed with how it turned out!

Such detail goes into the cockpit, then it all closes up and you cannot get to appreciate it, at least the builder knows it's there. Quite an odd way to go about the construction but appears to work well. This is my third one of these and only now noticed I am one code decal missing for the version I wanted to make😩

And fuselage closed up with a bit work and tailplanes went on just a second after not a spot of bother or gaps! The wings may be trickier

Such a shame to cover up the highly detailed gun bays, but I am not an accomplished enough modeller yet to open up the wings. What would I use to do that for the future?

Now wings are on as well as primer.

Good to see this one is going well for you. As to opening the gun bays; I'd suggest chain drilling then perhaps a razor saw or careful scalpel work to clean up the edges.

I don’t have a saw or chain drill, perhaps an investment required as I’d like to make one of these opened up

By chain drill, what is meant is you drill a series of holes close to each other in a straight line and then cut through to join the holes and out pops the waste part. Simples!

All one needs do then is to clean up around the edge of the opening.

( Or did you really know that already?)

No I thought a chain drill was a thing, thick as mince. Makes sense, but I wouldn’t have worked it on my own so thanks for the tip. I’m not a great or experienced modeller.

Knight-flyer is flying on with his so great motivation to get moving with just two weeks left for mine. Masking to do camouflage, will be my first total spray painted model. I like brush painting RAF camo scheme but here goes..

Glad to help out.  What you need is a drill about 1.00mm in size, drill in each corner slowly then do all the others as explained.  I use my finger and thumb  to hold the drill, as a power tool such as Dremel is too fast and can cause drill to break unless there is a speed control (I don't know 'cos I don't have or use one), By using your own  nature provided tool you can control as needed .. between finger and thumb...slowly but surely.  Clear the swarf/waste after each twist as the waste can also cause the drill to snap. Good luck.

Brilliant, thanks for the tips, I shall give it a go on a project I have in mind soon. Thanks again!

First dusting of Ocean Grey in the shape of Tamiya AS-10. My favourite grey, my favourite rattle can paint. Small parts painted with brush and mixture of humbrol, lifecolor, tamiya small pots. Had a scarlet red accident but plenty of pots of that from my Skyhawk fleet build. Whilst making blutac camouflage sausages I decided I couldn’t get good enough demarcation so dark green likely be hard painted, the most therapeutic part of this hobby so actually in the end the finish may not be as good but it’s the bit I enjoy. Hope to move far ahead with this today as clock runs out

Hand painted Humbrol 30 dark green. Experimented with different scales of thinning but pretty pleased. I actually like the fact it looks faded which I might just leave as is as I cannot shade and highlight as my skill set is not up to it. Sprayed my rockets in Tamiya 155 olive drab 2, yes that is napalm/snakeye I think and a large bomb too, not for this but my Skyhawk. Again paint hasn’t covered the entire rockets etc but I like the different tones and like used look it has created by chance that I could not replicate. Let this all dry in the strong Scottish sun and see how I feel on inspection this evening

That is probably us for today, let the paint dry then a gloss varnish, decals, pick out some panel lines and begin to throw the undercarriage, rockets and small bits at it, hopefully in time.

Navigation lights and prop attached, zero glue required. Tamiya Bronze for stacks. Let this rest now while I have a decal search.

Gloss ish coat of humbrol clear on ready for decals once this cures over night. Most small assemblies complete to add then should be good for the deadline

Looks as if you are making good steady progress there :speak_cool: I like the masking tape strip which I presume is for seperating similar bits of a couple Flanker projects.

Decals going on with experiments of decal fix v micro sol and different combos of and how it helps or enhances fix and finish.

Deadline looming, decals almost done. Not impressed by the brittle decals, must just have been at bad batch as previous typhoons and indeed all airfix ones have been good. Not sure micro sol really does much, seem to get better results with decal fix. Another hour or so at the bench before a night out so it will be a hangover finishing job tomorrow

Stop the clock. Calling this done, rockets on and ready to fly. Great kit but this batch of decals were dreadful which I must say is unusual for Airfix or this kit, it’s my third. Footery in places but a great build of a great big beast of a plane. Thanks for looking in.
