Chengdu J-7 color

I'm building the Trumpeter J-7A and I was thinking of an PLA paint scheme...

Chinese Navy aircraft are painted to US paint standards?  Interesting theory!

 Short of matching an example  of paint to the actual aircraft your guess is as good as mine.

That particular one looks white to me, with dark grey pylons - attractive!

Yes. Maybe white with a few drops of ghost grey??

 

I wish Trumpeter would be more accurate with color callouts. The instructions for the PLAAF are for airframe aluminum.

I don't see a little smily face after your first sentence, so I assume you're being serious. While the Chinese aircraft, obviously, aren't painted to US FS colors, apparently the FS color is a good match for the Chinese colors.

I wonder if the Chinese have an equivalent to FS 595 that's published. Hmmmm…

As we see on this photo:

any difference with J-7 and early colour scheme J-8-I & J-8-II

(but very strange colour shadow J-10!) :

As I suppose, the early color scheme of the J-8 is no white, is something close to the weathering FS 36495:

that was used on the early F-18 colour scheme.

Late colour scheme J-8-II, J-7, as I suppose, identical J-10 colour.

Not FS colour, but PLAN's J-7H(naval version of new wing J-7IV) is light grey looks like FS36320(or another FS36XXX, cannot remember). There are some more accurate drawing by Chinese authors on the site.

 

For J-7A(in PLAAF serial code J-7I), it's overall white except initial prototypes.
