Hiya Folks,..... this is the 1/72nd scale Airfix kit built as a post war aircraft operated by 320 Squadron of the Royal Netherlands Navy`s Fleet Air Arm based in Holland during the late 1940`s and early 1950`s in the coastal patrol role. The model was brush painted using Pactra acrylic Extra Dark Sea Grey and Polly Scale Sky.

Here is the WIP;

And here is the model,.....pics updated to show the model after a couple of coats of Klear to make it glossier;

Hiya Folks,...here is my 1/48th scale Monogram B-25H wearing the markings of the 82nd Bomb Sqn, 12th Bomb Group which served in the Mediterranean theatre during 1943 and into 1944, during which time it served on anti shipping sorties and helped support the British invasion of Kos in the Aegean. Early in 1944 the Bomb Group left Foggia in Italy when it transferred to the 10th Air Force in India where it remained until the end of the war. Most of the decals for the model came from the decal sheet `Dragons and Tigers and Girls,..Oh My" from Albatros Modelworks,...... although most of the nose was brush painted,..... apart from the eyes, which were overpainted with a duller yellow, brighter blue and with blue eyebrows! The upper surfaces of the model were spray painted using a Tamiya rattle Can USAAF Olive Drab while the rest of the model and the varnish etc was brush painted.  Here is a WIP to stop me prattling on!;

Here is the hand painted face;

Hiya Folks,.... another one finished! This one is another 1/72nd Airfix kit and represents ex Dutch B-25C Mitchell N5-148 coded `A' of T (Twin) Flight No.3 Photographic Reconnaissance Unit (India), a unit which had A which had begun as 5 PRU and later split into squadron status. Five Dutch B-25C`s were taken on by the RAF in India during early 1942 and were first used operationally during the withdrawal through Burma to the Indian frontier. For their new role the USAAF colours of Olive Drab/ Neutral Grey was overpainted in Royal (or Bosun) Blue as used by the PR aircraft operating with 2 PRU in the Med and after some problems with the red and blue B Type wing roundels being mistaken for Japanese markings due to the Blue section merging with the camouflage, some had the blue re painted using a lighter colour as per this one, while some are said to have received a yellow ring,... as seen on 3 PRU`s Hurricane`s. With 2,000lb of extra fuel taking up the bomb bay and the turrets removed, a fan of 3 x F.8 or F.24 camera`s were fitted in the plated over lower gun position with a smaller camera also mounted in the tail behind the rear entrance door. Operating at between 26,000 to 30,000 feet, the increased fuel load gave a radius of action of 1,000 miles. Unfortunately the subject of this model, N5-148 was shot down over Rangoon in 1943.

The model had the mid upper turret plated over using the part from the lower turret which was left over from a previous kit, needing quite a lot of internal bracing and filler as it was smaller than the actual hole! Camera ports were drilled into the lower fuselage and the model was Brush painted using Polly Scale US Navy Sea Blue,... as seen in the WIP here;

And here is the model;

Hiya Folks,...another one done,.... this is the 1/72nd scale Hasegawa kit built as a Mitchell Mk.III, KJ687, OA-X of 342 `Lorraine' Sqn, Free French Air Force, belonging to 2 Group of 2nd TAF at Gilze-Rijen, Netherlands, Summer 1945. The model was brush painted and the decals came from a mixture of the kit (fuselage roundels!) and the spares box (everything else!).  The real aircraft had quite a lot of paint chipping around the nose on the right side and so this has hopefully been replicated here.

Hiya Folks,....me again! Here is another one finished,.....again it is the 1/72nd Hasegawa kit built as a B-25H, Barbie III' of the 1st Air Commando Group, USAAF based in India to support the British Chindit long range penetration force  during their second `expedition' which began as an aerial insertion known as  Operation Thursday during February 1944. My Grandad and my Wife`s Grandad both fought as infantrymen in Burma and mine was a Chindit,.... so I`ve dedicated this model to them both, and eveybody else who foght as a member of the Forgotten Army and Air Force.

The model was brush painted and the grey exhaust staining of the original was hopefully replicated using dry brushed grey enamels of various shades. Here is the WIP;

Hello again,.... yes it`s e again,....but for the last time!! Here is my 2nd Airfix 1/72nd scale Mitchell from 3 PRU in India, but this time wearing the later PRU Blue finish and bearing the RAF serial MA956, which was one of the ex RAF contract aircraft which were taken over by the USAAF before being released to the RAF once more. Unlike the earlier ex Dutch Mitchell`s used by the unit these later additions had a clear perspex cupola fitted in the dorsal position and a vacuformed Martin turret cupola was used in this instance, requiring the opening in the fuselage to be reduced in size. The model was brush painted and the WIP is here;

Just in time, I got mine done!

Here's my B-25J "Sandbar Mitchell", which flew as a firefighter in Alaska before suffering a dual engine failure and being stranded on a sandbar in the Tanana River (hence the name).  It's currently being restored to flight.

Converted from the new Airfix 1:72 C/D kit.
