Howlindawg
Hi All, I'm in unfamiliar territory in that part of the forum with my normal fare being sticks and string WWI aircraft. However, my daughter (5) has requested an Arbath 500 Assetto Corsa finished in Shelby style deep blue with white stripes. Basically one of these Arbath Martini by Martin Fay, on Flickr Painted like this 1965-Ford-GT40-replica-fast-five-0 by Martin Fay, on Flickr I don't want to use automotive rattle cans if I don't have to. I'd prefer to airbrush the paint. So the question is, "what's a good source of paint for Automotive models"? Martin
cmatthewbacon
www.hiroboy.com will do you colour-matched Zero Paints: https://www.hiroboy.com/2010_Ford_Mustang_Shelby_Paints_60ml--product--4696.html https://www.hiroboy.com/Mica_Blue_for_SimilR_Ford_GT_GT1_2010_Paint_60ml--product--4366.html But you'll need a gloss coat (one-coat or two pack) Tamiya TS-50 looks a pretty good match it you prefer to use a simple rattle can... https://www.emodels.co.uk/tamiya-100ml-ts-50-mica-blue-85050.html best, M. Thud4444
Zero paints is what your looking for if you don't want to use a rattle can. But just an fyi, there isn't a color called Shelby blue. What is traditionally called Shelby blue is actually at least 4 different colors. Some from the Ford stocks and others from A.C. Viking blue (us &uk) Guard's man blue (uk) Guard's man blue (us) Princess blue (uk) So I'd just pick one. Most modern Shelby's are painted US Guard's man or an awful modern attempt at princess called grabber blue- Unless something has changed since I left the business, the ability to match Princess has been lost. We could get close, but the color didnt translate well in modern paint formulas. Edited March 18, 2018 by Thud4444
Howlindawg
Thanks Thud, The Princess Blue image is closest to what I'm aiming for and I agree with you on modern Grabber Blue BTW. I don't need an exact match, just something that captures the spirit of the colour in 1/32 scale.
