I started with the float and wing.

 

To avoid the float from not staying in place by just glueing,I added two small screws to fix it stronger.

My attempt to make Japanese Navy-grey.

 

A mix of 75 % Revell satin light grey 371 + 25 % Humbrol matt Sky Type S.

What a monster that will be. Great start and a brilliant way to avoid a disastrous adhesion failure. Your color mix to me appears spot on. Looking forward to the rest of the build.

Nice work so far, I didn't even realise a 1/24 Zero kit existed. I don't know if you were aware but a lot of recent research suggests that Zero's and Rufe's were not a pale grey colour but more of a caramel/green colour. If you're interested in what the current research says to the colour's id take a look at either Nick Millman or Greg Springer's posts on here or other forums to see what they suggest that the colour should be. IF you're interested there's a very good discussion posted here :

Tamiya do a pretty good IJN grey

I hate to say it, but, The head rest/rollover bar is not present on the Rufe.

I am happy to say beautiful work!

The instructions don't say it should be removed.

 

It's not that important to me.I will leave it on.
