A few F-5Es from the 64th Fighter Weapons Squadron.

s/n 71-1635, June 1981. I think this was supposed to be the "Frog" scheme, but that brown just doesn't look right.

72-1388, April 1981.

73-0882, February 1981. Snake scheme. Note the 2 in the bort number looks like an inverted 5.

73-0847, May 1981. Pumpkin scheme.

73-0847 again, June 1981. Pumpkin scheme, but looks like someone found a different shade of tan/brown.

73-0865, June 1981. Don't know what scheme this was supposed to be. Many of us in the operational test squadron thought it was a mistake and referred to it as The Lemon.

Did you have any F-5F's during this time?

No F-5Fs before 1985. I was surprised to see that they had F-5Fs on the line when I returned to the US in 1988.

.interesting that 635 appears to be missing the red parts of the star 'n bar...

We had a few jets on the Nellis line that looked like the star and bar went pre-1947. The sun bleached away the red. We had two F-4Es in the 414th Fighter Weapons Squadron with bleached insignia on the left and insignia that looked new on the right.

Thanks Sven.

I have seen photos of F-5F's that is supposed to be from 1983, so a bit surprised about this? But would you happen to have photos from ~1988ish too?

Working on them. Hence the "Part 1" for this post. I have the rest of the 64th and about a dozen from the 65th.

funny how the last grey schemes make the hump behind the cockpit look more pronounced. Brilliant pictures as ever

Hmmm... Hadn't noticed that before, but yeah, it looks almost like one of the MiG-29 designers got into it.
