Oh, don’t worry! Even if Dennis doesn’t, I plan to enter way more builds than I’m likely to complete! :like:

Ahh the true GB spirit :-)

I’d be in favour of waiving the 25% rule for my Oertz as the hull is going to take quite a bit of work to figure out ( there are twenty cross sections so it’s a pretty complex shape)  and I’d  quite cheerfully start on the buck now. That said I could argue that  making the buck isn’t 25% of the build.

It's open and shut @Marklo! Dont open the windows otherwise all the bits of photocopying will blow away and don't close the fuselage. I"m impressed at the level of anticipation when I'm still floundering in the Africa GB, that I really knew I didn't have time for!

I think it best if you carry on with your prep work; as @Enzo Matrix says Airfix don't produce a new model in the duration of a GB (though I bet Tamyia could😍) so what you're doing sounds more like prep than construction...or is there something you want to share with the group?!!

From my limited experience of working in the injection molding industry ( 14 months contract work between real jobs :) ) I’d say in principal you’d be very lucky to get the CAD work done in the three months of a GB let alone the tooling made, artwork packaging etc etc  unless it was a very very simple model even then….

I shall press on with my Oertz pre work :)

resized_37c52f2f-d48e-41ee-bb4e-2fed7ecbAlthough TBH most of my effort atm is going into scraping in to the interceptors GB deadline with my PB31 ( not really that much to do, rigging, paint and engines)

I'm a bit late weasling in here, but I've got a Dekno resin kit I've been putting off for a year or so (never built a resin kit before), and it would make a nice pairing to my subject in the subsequent 'unarmed' GB!

Yes please, can I join, or I'll never get round to resinating!

Two consecutive GBs - what can possibly go wrong?

A bit late? Welcome but you can't be late for a GB that hasn't started yet😀.

I've dabbled in resin a couple of times with no ill effects. Oh hold on, yes I didn't appreciate just how sharp you can make a trailing edge in resin and got the equivalent of a paper cut- but don't let that put you off. As I said  above sometimes we must suffer for our art🙄

My Aeroclub vacform Felixstowe is getting nearer the start line, most parts are cut sanded out now, but the more I look at it, the more I think 'whoops!'. It is going to present some challenges, but a Group Build helps me through that sort of thing!

Not long now before the start...

Hmm. This looks like an interesting place. I have a number of white metal and etched brass kits waiting in the wings, trains, buses and old commercial vehicles.........

Might join in with this one.

I have a prime candidate for this GB but I need to vac form something for it.

I'm hoping to get a load of vac forming done this coming weekend. I'm way behind in my modelling cos I need to make a load of canopies for kits on my MU shelf

I hope that making the part for my candidate kit won't be seen as breaking any rules

I know some people in Suffolk County Council who'd agree tat the more they look at Felixstowe, the more they think 'whoops'! Personally I like it and think its under appreciated; which might be the way to approach the Aeroclub model!

Welcome to what might be renamed the Hippy Commune GB where we're all guided by the spirit not the law! It's fine to start vacing (is that a word? It is now) pieces. Same as some of the 3D brigade are having test prints etc. It would be nice if you could keep some photos etc. To make a prologue for when the GB goes live. Im sure @Enzo Matrix has a spreadsheet which will tell you to the second when the specific forum will go live!!

Chris

Is the vac-form in the stash the modelling version of elephant in the room? Welcome, nature might abhor a vacuum but we welcome them

Precision bulldog clips? Never seen those on the website of the Big Yellow H- must be a specialist supplier!

Seeing everyone's ambitious plans and ideas,  and spurred on by all the reminiscing of white metal kits, I'm wondering if I dare enter this...

PXL-20210302-180446925.jpg

6 pieces, well 7 if I add glazing; is there a de minimis as to what constitutes a model?! And then, suppose I don't manage to finish even this? I might increase my completion rate or might head for my most embarrassing fail yet😒

For non-railway modellers n gauge is close to 1:144 in aircraft speak.

Searching through my stash, looking for something suitable, I remembered these. Reminds me of a saying, "so I wait over 10 years to make a Bus model, and 16 come along all at once"!

Spoilt for choice!

Oh my days! You're going to need most of the timespan of the GB to select which ones to do ☺️. Buses scare me, not just because of memories of school but for all the glazing and interiors. I salute you sir 👍

Hi,

As I mentioned some time ago I have over 20 Milicast 1/76 resin tanks, at least one self propelled gun and a couple of Armoured cars waiting to be made. I probably will not enter all of them, but once they have been removed from the moulding blocks which can be tricky, and have been cleaned up, most of them do not need much building.

Here is a sample.

DSC04765

And here is an example of what they build up like - my BEF group.

tanksbef 005-crop

Except for the 2 guns, all the rest are Milicast kits - Cruisers A9, A10, A13, Infantry tanks A11 Matilda I and A12 Matilda II, Austin "Tilly" and Loyd Carrier - at the time only a later version of the A12 was available in injection at 1/76.  The Infantry tanks are in the darker "Scheme 1" of G4 over G3, and everything else is in the lighter "Scheme 2" of G5 over G3, using old White Ensign Colourcoats paints. Ignore the Airfix US Infantryman which was only included to give a sense of scale - and yes, it is the Airfix Waterloo Farmhouse base!

Most of the work will be painting and decalling, so rather than bore everybody rigid with a dozen or more individual entries, will it be OK if I just enter them in small batches - say 3 Valentines done in parallel?

Cheers

Pete

What's the collective for Valentines? I like the thought of a romance of Valentines, OK I'll leave before the GB even starts:coat:.  I think it's a very sensible idea to cluster them together; you'll have a GB thread within the GB going on.

That might be a massive understatement!!

What was it delivered by? Air drop from a Hercules? Fascinating scale, makes sense as one third of full size and another one to drop in to the mix of 1:32, which works as an imperial measurement because it's easy to find on a ruler and 1:35 which apparently exists because it fitted the box that Tamyia had to hand. Scales intrigue me and one day I might try to compile some sort of gazetteer of them.

Meanwhile, good luck unpacking it. At least there can't be many livery options etc. to distract you. Oh there again there's photoshop and that would fit nicely in this GB
