It originally had the 2CV's canvas top and seats.

Must look out for one of these kits.  I always love the Meharis seen on holiday in France.  I've even spotted ones with 4wd!

Thanks guys, yes they did do a 4X4 version as well! One fault, the wheels have no backing plates so the soft, tight tyres try to roll off the back of the wheels. So I stuck them on with superglue, next time I'll make wheel backs out of plasticard to stop the tyres trying to get away!

Thanks BeastieBoy73. This body came in bright white, I have heard of some in colours, perhaps Orange or Yellow.

Thanks Jim on my Mehari. Yes this was the Mini Mike, originally built by British Leyland in the 60's, 70's and then taken over by a specialist builder, all metal body with the Hydrolastic Suspension and engines from the Mini. You could have the 850cc engine right up to the 1275S Cooper version, either with steel wheels or the original alloy 'Minilite' wheels shown here.

They sold a few here (our summer is really non existent) but mainly in Italy and across the Greek Islands and beyond. Super lightweight & very quick!

I've just looked on Wikipedia. They were licensed to be built in Portugal, South Africa and of all places Zetland, New South Wales.

There was a gathering called Panorama Mokes at Bathurst in 2016 as well. Although a concept called 'Bechcomber Mike' was on the drawing board for some time it has not been produced by BMW Mini.

Also a one off was produced and sold across Thailand, the Caribbean, Seychelles, Mauritius  and Australia in 2012 it didn't 'take off' sales wise!
