mbdesignart
The Transit has had another coating of blue this afternoon and is now sitting under a box in the sun. I'm just hoping that when I remove the tape this time all is well. If it doesn't work I may try the lighter fluid trick and then stick it in the oven
Marco F.
I hope you'll get it right this time!!!
mbdesignart
Thankfully the respray has worked this time, althoughI'm still not 100% happy with the edges. I'll give the blue a few more days to harden before applying the decals. I just hope the clear coat goes on ok.

mbdesignart
Many thanks for the ongoing support and comments. The decals have now been applied to the body and rear door, all went on without any dramas. Next up a clear coat and then masking to spray window surrounds and rear arches black.

Spiny
Those decals have really made this van. Did you work out why the paint worked ok with the masking tape this time or was it just third (or however many) time lucky?
Hamden
That looks really really smart. You would never know you had a problem with the paintwork! Roger
mbdesignart
I think it is the blue paint which is really soft, the solvents must have soaked through the paper masking tape and attacked it. Lesson learned for next time - stick to white vans! I just hope the clear coat goes on ok.
Pete in Lincs
I'll add a Wow! to the comments.
mbdesignart
Body all clear coated, big up Simoniz lacquer. Also had to mask up the body, again, to spray satin black to window surrounds and rear arches. Also I've trimmed the bumper returns as per reference photos and added the resin over riders/headlamp washer units to the front bumper.
Redstaff
Well done for persevering after all the issues with the paint before You wouldn't know from looking at the way it looks now Can't wait to see it completed as it's something fairly different to the norm
fightersweep
Looking fantastic! It's certainly been a battle for you though...but you're beating it into submission!
mbdesignart
The chassis & body have been paired after a little trimming to the bulkhead/dash assembly, but I recall having to do that with my previous Transit Tipper build. Now onward with the windows, rear valance, bumpers, etc., etc.

Redstaff
Very nice, can't wait to see the finished article One point though, it seems to be sitting quite high compared to the transits I remember, or was it modded for the rally work and rougher surfaces? mbdesignart
Going off photo refs the ride height, unladen, is about right to me. Maybe you remember the usual pose of them dragging along on their bump stops?
mbdesignart
A little more progress... windows, screen and rear door have been added along with the bumpers and h/l washer/over riders, grille and lights. I've found a couple of spots [ex Belkits Escort] from the spares box to go on the front bumper. Door handles and wipers are up next and then attaching the roof/tyre rack.
Hamden
That really looks the dogs do-dah's. Are you going to add a tow bar as I seem to remember a lot of these service vans were so equipped Roger
