1/48 British Carrier Deck base - can I buy one?

All, 

 

Does anyone know where I can buy / obtain a fairly generic 1/48 British Carrier deck base for a prospective modelling project - you know of the cardboard type? 

 

I’ve seen plenty of USN and IJN examples available for sale, however does anyone know if a British WW2 Carrier deck exist? 

 

Martime subjects are not my strong suit, so all help offered will be most appreciated. The particular carrier is HMS Argus, however I’m not overly concerned over overall details.

Hello @Rabbit Leader Try “Coastal kits” out they carry a wide range of display bases including carrier decks. Not sure if they have a british one but worth a look ?

Quite fancy a couple I could print up myself..  I might see it I can paint something up and see if I can scan it and print it..

Good thinking Mr. Beema, I’m almost thinking of doing something similar. Perhaps even just masking and painting white stripes onto a grey deck?

I have used plasticard sheet attached to an mdf base and sprayed it various grey shades with white deck markings. I used Illustrious’s deck as a guide and attached some white numbers for the distance markers.

Nice display base 85sqd.. I reckon you could sell those and make a handsome profit on the side. I think I might choose this similar route as well. Thanks for posting.

Airfix provided one in their 1/72 Swordfish kit. Perhaps an enlarged copy could be made?

Just knocked this up.  It's A4, feel free to try it and put it in the bin if you wish but it might do as temporary base..

Have you checked Noy's Miniature's? They may have what you need.

Thanks for the tip Joe... had a quick look however couldn’t see any Carriers decks as such. Some other bases were of interest however.

Maybe you should suggest it to them; maybe I should. A carrier base would go nicely with some of mine as well. Happy to help, Dave, sorry they didn't have it; but, they are always introducing new base ideas; so, worth a look.
