Gorby
I've been after this kit for a while but wasn't willing to pay the silly prices they often go for – this one was bargain so I couldn't resist. I've seen reviews, but somehow I was expecting a better quality kit that it turns out to be – quite basic in many respects. Built out of the box – with lots of improvements (that bit is just to annoy @MAD STEVE) but no after-market stuff. The biggest improvement is to give it an air-intake, as the kit has a blocked nose. If I had know what a pain it would be, I would just have done a FOD cover. Live and learn. Most of the markings are done with home-made stencils and the seatbelts are printed on paper. The camouflage is a figment of my imagination/derangement. One of the reasons I like building aircraft that didn't exist, is that I don't need to make excuses about 'wrong colour', 'incorrect markings' etc. So, if any rivet-counters have any complaints about factual inaccuracies, please address them to whatever alternate universe this did exist (and preferably one that I don't). If you are interested in the WIP: Thanks for looking and if you aren't Luft-46ed out by now, there is also my Ta-183 build which I bought on the same day as the 509, started building on the same day; and three months later, completed on the same day. 21

Gorby
Thanks @Lovely Pig and @Vince1159. There was some discussion in the WIP about this influencing the MiG 15. I believe that it probably did, but I'm not exactly an expert. As a comparison:

cathasatail
What a superb build! For me, those X4 missiles top it off perfectly Best wishes, Sam
Gorby
Thanks very much @cathasatail. The missiles are definitely one of the better parts of the kit. Apparently I've put them on in the wrong order, but whatever.
rob Lyttle
I'm a bit behind schedule, but... Great build and a great looking result. Wow! I'm not one for greys, greens and browns, but that does look good in camo. Not the easiest build out of the box, so well done on that. (If it's too easy, you don't learn anything!)
