What you're ONLY signed up for 5 GBS!!! Expect better from members here!!! :fight:

With all the free time between those GB's you could at least fit in a couple more and still have a relaxing time. Remember sleep is an option here!

:) well, I could find more, only I don't have money nor time to do them all. :)

now there's a nasty cycle, to build models you need to work, but working results in less modelling time, but with out it no models.........

I really need to win lotto!

Which kit is it?

1/48 HPM.  https://www.scalemates.com/kits/historic-plastic-models-48-008-s-105-mig-19s-farmer-c--311310

Also got the SBS cockpit & Model Masters gun barrels & pitot tube to spruce it up a bit.  Working 70+ hours a week right now just kinda puts a hamper on my free time.  😑

HiPM kits have an 'interesting' reputation so I hope this one is a step up in quality. At least the replacement cockpit and metal parts will make that areas easier.

Should be good as that variant is a night fighter specific design, not just a normal fighter utilized at night.  Cool plane, I had actually forgotten about that variant.

Does a night fighter have to be a specially built one like the P-61 or would a C.V. Corsair F4U-5N night fighter be acceptable?

As many of the best night fighters started out in other roles the F4U-5N is as acceptable as the Defiant, Blenheim, Me.110 etc.

as what Col said, and this goes for the other groups in the build. It doesn't have to have been designed as a specialist role aircraft (or vehicle), it could have been converted into or just ended up being used in that particular role.

I would say that the Mosquito, Beaufighter, Bf-110 and Ju-88, are good examples of classic aircraft designs that ended up in very specialised roles not envisioned when they were first designed/built.

well we're at the 1/2 way mark for this GB, I know scary thought for most of us!

It's great to see we have 73 build threads so far, some wth multiple builds as well, great job everyone. All themes seem to be popular, though we could do with a few more AFV's.

It's also nice to see we already have 8 builds completed and in the gallery already, great job to those there, and I do know there a a few builds very close to joining them as well (pleased to say I'm in that group for a change). So keep up the great work everyone, there's still plenty of time to complete your build....or for those watching to join in.

With the Chinook STGB and all the whirlybird chatter that was going in here, I keep looking at the Lynx hiding in the stash longingly as by coincidence one of the configurations is in the anti-ship role for the Royal Navy.  But sadly I know there is no way I'd be able to get it built in time with how busy my June is going to be.  So I need to just focus on getting the RF-4 off the bench and hopefully a bit further on the Vigi...I'll be content w/ that.  On the flip side, all the mini-road trips are going to be awesome.  😎

Which Chinook STGB would that be?

That one.  CH-46/KV-107.  I guess it's technically a Sea Knight...I just tend to lump the CH-46/CH-47 together in my whirlybird ignorance due to the design similarities.

Good God man! Wash your mouth out! There's no way a Chinook is a Sea Knight, I see we need to educate some of you "helicopterally challenged" folks out there.

And besides I'm running that GB!!

Errr....

Is there any more spot for (another) Black Widow?

2guiglg.jpg

I'm planning to build it as the "Virgin Widow"

https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/p-61/p-61-black-widow-night-fighter-42-5554-the-virgin-widow-nose-art/

Cheers,

Mario

Always room for another nightfighter and particularly one with such great nose art
