Dave_R
Hi Rich Quick question is a Gloster Javelin eligible for this GB. It's usually described as an all-weather/night interceptor, but not a pure nightfighter as such. If it's OK I've got the Airfix 1/48 Javelin ready to go. Dave. vppelt68
I found out a few months ago, that Humbrol provides its #33 matt black in a special edition for nightfighter and -bomber builders 1

GliderGuider
I'd love to join in too if I may! I also have a 1/48 Blenheim in The Stash, and am planning to do this as an early night fighter. Either L6836 of the Fighter Interception Unit, which achieved the first airborne radar intercepted kill in history (which may prove difficult as the squadron code seems difficult to track down), or more likely the Blenheim of 25 Sqn in which Pilot Officer Michael Herrick scored three night victories in September 1940. I'm looking forward to getting started on this kit as soon as I've finished my current project! Matt

JOCKNEY
Hi Rich Would this be acceptable, it's a bit new for me and unlikely to have parts missing as it's still sealed ! All of which is very unusual for me cheers Pat

vppelt68
Oh woe is me, I have a nasty hunch I just committed myself to buying a kit for another Mediterranean nightfighter... Fortunately July is still so far away! Edit: paid and on its way now... 4

Scargsy
OK so I have a few kits in my stash, wanted to check eligibility: StuG IV (tank killer) - was planning to do this as a second build in the Panzer IV GB but haven't finished the first and that GB is now finished! Land Rover Wolf WMIK (recon) Other bits that should fit the briefings: Rockwell OV-10 Bronco (recon) Northrop P-61 Black Widow (night fighter) Will I build them all - probably not, though the winged kits are 1/72 so there's that temptation that they seem small and simple before you start them! trickyrich
they all should be ok with me, you know I never really thought about the Bronco, but as an Air Observer aircraft is sort of fits the bill.
Giorgio N
I've decided on a subject and I'd like to build an Il-2 Shturmovik for this GB.. would any of these machines be eligible as a tank hunter ? BerndM
Just a question. Would a bomber interceptor designed to bring down strategical Bombers work for this GB ? Examples: 1.) Nothrop F-89 D / J Scorpion. An all weather jet interceptor designed to shoot down incoming soviet bombers with guns and rockets. The first variants used 20 mm guns but since the D model unguided and later guided rockets on the J model for example were the armament for these aircrafts. Beside some use as drone contollers the prime mission was to intercept bombers. Source: Wiki and the Revell instructions. Kit:Revell F-89 D/J Scorpion 1:72 scale 2.) Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-2/R1 A sub version of the relative widespread G-2 variant of this multi role combat aircraft. While the nightfighter 110s carried out night and daylight missions, patrols and top cover missions ( Operation Donnerkeil or the channel dash of the heavy Kriegsmarine units in February 1942 for example but goes for much of the nightfighter arm ) The /R1 of Panzerjägerstaffel ZG 1 flew anti tank missions with their underslung 37mm Flak 18 against soviet tanks on the eastern front. What can destroy tanks it can also bring down four engined Bombers. Erprobungskommando 25 and ZG 76 used these heavy aircrafts as part of the Reichsverteidigung during 1944. Aircraft with this fitting plus the wing mounted W.Gr.21 rocket launchers were used within the 4,5,6./ZG 76.( maybe more ) The german crews for the twin engined figher groups ( Zerstörergeschwader ) were trained to fly all weather missions. Source: Info Eduard - February 2011 / Werner Held: Die Deutsche Nachtjagd 1942-45. Kit: Eduards Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-2 Profipack 1:72 3.) Focke Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2. Needs not much introduction. After the twin engined fighter units of the Luftflotte Reich getting more and more pushed back by the USAAF fighter escorts this very special version of the versatile hudertneunzig had to take over. With the Sturmstaffel 1 the so called Sturmjagd was born. these were special trained units and their only use was to combat four engined bombers during daylight missions over Germany. Many of these pilots came from the also very special "Wilde Sau" Units, single engined figher units using search lights from the ground to hunt bombers during night time. Many bomber, transport or flight instructor pilots flew missions there. After the allied landings in France many of these well trained pilots were more or less wasted in simple fighter bomber missions during the Normandy Campaign. The black eight of the 11./JG3 flown by Uffz. Willi Maximowitz taxying after a fighter bomber mission without the typical bars on the bomb rack needed for the drop tanks in Dreux, France is a telling picture for this. These Units had to fly later again fighter bomber missions at the eastern front in spring 1945. Beside this these were special formed anti bomber units. trickyrich
hmmm not really, they're interesting aircraft but don't really fall into the Night Fighter category for this GB, the Neptun equiped Fw-190A-5/6/8 are fine.
BerndM
But a straight Ju 88G ( or a nightfighter C variant ), He 219 for example used by a nightfighter unit would do it ?

I have some options which will fit Dragon Ju 88C-6 nightfighter with an AIMS decal set incl a med based aircraft in black and two mottled examples with radar. Hasegawa Ju 88G-6 with the Berlin Radar and a standart kit 1:72 Eduard Bf 110G-4 1:48 The huge Revell He 219 in 1:32 is also possible. Time to think about.
RMP2
And now I see this GB..... for goodness sake.... So many options in the stash. Tempted by an Argentine Etendard or one or two of their A-4s, but then these proppy things have infiltrated the collection and theres a Stuka G2 along with a pair of 111s with torpedos.... or an F-4G WW..... or.... or.... too many options!!!!!! Must finish things first!!!! AHA!! I have a barely started FR10 Hunter for, of course, II Sqn markings. That will have to be done. Phew.
BerndM
A Grumman AF-2 Hunter/Killer Team would maybe also a nice addition to this GB.
