upnorth
I just saw a small spot on the Czech news about the impending retirement of the last remaining Czech Mil Mi-2 helicopters. the type left military service proper quite some time ago, but a couple have been soldiering on as training aircraft in the hands of CLV, the flight training arm of state owned company LOM Praha. The replacement machine will be the Enstrom 480. I have to admit that I'll miss the Mi-2 at shows, it's an unmistakable looking little beast while its replacement is a decidedly pedestrian looking design to my eye. I just hope they keep the Mi-2 around until the annual show in Pardubice this year. I'd like to see it one more time in "living" form.
noelh
Another classic gone. As for its replacement the Enstrom 480. I honestly thought Enstroms had all gone to the great helipad in the sky long ago. I guess I'm out of touch.
