funguseater
This really is a gem of a kit from Airfix and a bargain price. The undercarriage is a challenge but goes together fine if not rushed. The paints in the photo are from mission models (for a future Eduard 1/48 Hellcat project). I actually used Vallejo model air mixed myself. It's an out of the box build. No breakages and no lost parts! I finished with a coat of Ammo flat lucky varnish. Any opinions as to whether I should finish it with Satin varnish?

Stew Dapple
Nice job mate I'd leave it matt if I were you, I imagine the salt air and sun would take the shine off the paintwork pretty quickly Cheers, Stew 2

dogsbody
Other than both ailerons being dropped, that kit looks great. Paint finish and weathering are very good. Chris

Smudge
Very nice. Your weathering has brought interest to the rather drab finish worn by Wildcats at this time.

WildeSau75
It looks just good as it is - no need for a more glossy finish. May I ask you what Vallejo color mix you used? Cheers, Michael

May I ask you what Vallejo color mix you used? Cheers, Michael Sure, just checked my notes. For the lower, I used a 50/50 mix of AK real color white grey/pale grey. For the Upper surfaces I mixed Vallejo 71.046 Pale Blue Grey (30 drops), Vallejo 71.008 Hellblau RLM 65 (30 drops) and Vallejo 71.089 Light Sea Blue (5 drops) in a mixing pot. All Vallejo Model Air. This was plenty to airbrush the upper surfaces. I don't know how accurate this is, but I was happy with the result.
