Figure build sequence

Hi Guys.

I have been building figures for a few number of years, but one thing still puzzles me.

Do you fit the headress at same time as the figure build, or do you paint the head and then add the headress afterwards.

Secondly do you paint inaccessable areas while building or do you complete figure then paint?

Thanks

I've found it depends on the figure. I prefer to assemble as much as possible before painting.

For Historex Napoleonic figures I assemble the 2 legs and lower body parts and then the rest of the figure in full, except for the back pack, although I fit the straps for the latter. then paint, finally glueing the legs and backpack to the rest of the figure.

For figures from other periods I tend to paint after assembly.

I always attach the head and headgear to the figure before painting, but that's because I am messy with glue. I guess if you are tidy with assembly and the parts fit really well without requiring putty, then painting them separately could produce a better finish.
