Head in the clouds.
Very good and thanks, I have always thought that the Scimitar, in the fashion of the Hunter, was a very clean and elegant aeroplane. Nice to see Sea Venoms as well, a type not often seen or spoken of.

The Scimitar features at number 9 in this list...

That just proves the saying Wez, " Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". If we all thought the same it would be a very monochrome world. The Sea Vixen above may not be a slick slip of a plane but it is big and powerful and that is maybe where it's beauty lay. Portly, how dare you Sir... Out of curiosity, what is number 1? Head in the clouds.
Yep, just realised it is a video. No1 is an obscure type but there are some poor designs in that top ten. I suppose they can't all be winners.

Corsairfoxfouruncle
Thank you very much for both videos Richard. Just makes me want to build one even more. Just have to keep telling myself that someday I will be able to build one.

junglierating
Gotta to say like the Scimitar but it wasnt a particulary safe aircraft .....then again not many of that vintage were.....meteors weren't called meatbox for nuffin'.....mind you I may have that wrong but they did crash a lot so seems apt. Meanwhile there is a scimitar vid knocking about whilst you watch a pilot drown in the cockpit....not a spectator sport really

I wish the film of Commander Russell's crash would be removed. There are many reports on how the crash happened and what caused him to be trapped and drown as the aircraft sank but I see no need for anyone to watch it happen.

Nasty sneering style too. Some of the aircraft he mentions were poor, some were designed and delivered to out of date or flawed specifications. Some were modified heavily from their original purposes or overtaken by events. Very easy to criticise with hindsight, traditionally viewed as 20:20. 'Hushkit.net' seems to specialise in some weird stuff. (Oh - and HitC, their no1 was the Blackburn Twin Blackburn. Not the prettiest of aeroplanes & one which few folk will have heard of.) Thanks Pinback, and Scimitar. Excellent videos of happy days when we had a fixed wing FAA of note! 'Hushkit.net' seems to specialise in this sort of weird and rather unpleasant stuff Thanks Pinback, and Scimitar. Excellent videos of happy days when we had a fixed wing FAA of note! I've seen that video. It seems to be one of a number on which the commentary sounds as though it is generated rather than spoken. You get some odd rhythms and pronunciations, e.g. meegee for MiG. At least, they've always been migs to me.

If this idiot doesn't like British aircraft manufacturing he should be really worried about the F35, the rear fuselage of which is manufactured in Lancashire! BAE Systems have delivered about 200 units so far if I recall correctly. Selwyn
