Max Headroom
Hello The inspiration to this build was the Daily Mail giveaway of a few weeks ago. Having enough Mk.l’s in my built pile I fancied something different. I finally settled on a Vc on the basis that (i) I didn’t have one in the stash and (ii) modelling-wise it’s not as common as the Vb. I know Sword do one straight out of the box and that KP will be following soon. However that’s not the point. I used this as a basis for the conversion using only my spares box. I’m happy with the end result even if it’s not 100%. Be that as it may, this conversion is well within the comfort zone of most 1/72 modellers. Filling in and re engraving the wing panel lines was the most ‘involved’ part of the conversion and quite frankly all you need is a steel rule, a scriber and patience. So here for your consideration is my ersatz Airfix-ish Spitfire Vc. And yes the chordwise wing strengthening strips are only meant to be on he port wing! Thanks for looking. Max Headroom
@Corsairfoxfouruncle Thanks for the thumbs up! I have another ‘free’ Airfix kit and that one will end up as an early PR example. Trevor
Knight_Flyer
Very nice build and work on the conversion. Not sure it's within my comfort zone - it's scary enough at the mere mention of the word "conversion"
Max Headroom
@Knight_Flyer Thanks! Honestly it’s not that bad. There is no hacking away of the kit, it’s just altering and adding. This would be a good first conversion once you collect all the necessary bits. Trevor
