Welsh Models BAe Jetstream 41 Airlink 1:144

Recommended Posts

Well, she's finished. You can find the build report here.

Not my best build, but I'm pleased with it considering the small scale. This Resin model kit by Welsh is very nice with an excellent fit. I did add some extra details, such as the engine exhausts, various other details on the engines, the direction finder loop antennae and other antennae. I scratched the forward landing gear strut as I found the original to be too thick. The window and cockpit decals are also made by me.

And as a bonus a comparison shot with my A330. The diameter of the engine intakes of the A330 is bigger than the fuselage of the Jetstream 41!

Thanks for looking and see you next time!

I would love someone to release an injected J41 in 1/72 one day

Here's hoping that Amodel follow up their J31/32 with a J41!

Only other options are the 1/72 Welsh vac/resin or the 1/72 Space Models resin blank (travel agency style).

Very smart as expected Martijn, I think the scratch built nose gear has made a big difference to the model. It looked too clunky and toy like with the original piece. Plus of course your windows really finish it off as usual!

This could easily pass for 1/72 in your pics, hard to believe it's only 13cm.

It looks like a handy size to display too, I've got lots of big jets on the go at the moment and I don't know where I'm going to display them!

The shapes look good not all Welsh kits are, IMO. But then again I've not seen any of the more recent resin fuselage models, after seeing this I might look into getting one.

Looking forward to next time!

Cheers,

Ian

I was pleasantly surprised by this kit. It would seem that Welsh' resin offerings are very nice. I bought a whole bunch of them and they look similarly nice. Expect more Welsh kit builds in the future!

Beautiful work Martijn, some very subtle touches. I'm tempted to try some similar window decals, are they ink-jet printed?

Indeed they are. Though you can laser print them as well (just make sure you use the appropriate decal paper).

This is a great build thanks for sharing! I am about 2/3 way through mine but foolishly glued the U/C in place....then there are the doors which are in one piece and of course need to be cut in half or trimmed now cos the gear is down. What did you do with yours? As I understand it the gear doors are closed on the ground and only open on the retraction cycle? Also if I could ask - what paint did you use to match the decals for the leading edge of the fin?

I've built WM's 31 and it went together beautifully - the 41 is no exception - expensive but very good quality. Also their resin (which sands very well) seems to have some form of metallic powder in it (for strength?) which I've never seen before!

Thanks in advance!
