Also, looks like you're beating me here - I'm at the final stages with my build too, but it's gonna take me a couple of weeks more to complete it, a whole nine months all in all! Ciao Thanks G. Has it really been that long. Crikey. 15 hours ago, Biggles87 said: Great unmasking, and very little damage. Ordered some Flory washes, I Wonder how long it will take me to achieve results like yours? John Thanks. The Flory stuff is great. If you can airbrush it, it gives better results. It’s a really easy process, I’m sure your build will look amazing. 😄 15 hours ago, Bigdave22014 said: Absolutely stunning Johnny. Small and fun eh? Congratulations Dear Spad !! Very great Lancaster, I agree about the stains since the BBMF is a place on which the kites stay really clean ! I'm considering seriously to modify mine following the @Mancunian airman 's way and modify the height of the Bomb bay's floor... 😛😛 So, once again, You finished far ahead of my builds.... Once again, Bravo !! Your kit capture the essence of the Lancaster !! And that's more the truth when we know what lie IN your kit !! Sincerely. CC Thanks CC and yes the heart and soul of this build is all down to you my friend. 9 hours ago, Bell209 said: Looking lovely now! Don't forget the flap and undercarriage door actuators - with all you've done so far it should be a breeze for you. Love the way your transparencies have turned out. I’ve got the flap ones. What the who the UC actuators again. *runs up to the top of the house......... These things? gah! Right there’s another thing. The Spadgent
Good evening gents. A slight push of a Monday night to get one step closer to finishing. There has been something not quite right with the look of The big beast and I couldn’t put my finger on it but looking in the window this afternoon in Ian Allen in Brum I saw a book about Lancaster’s and I saw my issue clear as day. it’s that gap on the Bomb bay doors. It’s not on the aeroplane. 🤔 darn it. So taking the bull by the horns I popped the doors off and trimmed down the actuators and re fitted the doors. Then fitted the PE hinge type bits. And wires at the back. Huzzah, gap gone by “gapbegone” The mid turret got popped in. And the bullet belt got assembled. The rear turret got weathered. and bullets added. I’m happy with that. time for bed now. I had a pick through the stash before I ventured down stairs this evening. Hmmmmmm double build? it’s @corsaircorp‘s fault. I just can’t choose. And deffo OOB. 😇 just a thought mind. 🤔 Thanks for dropping by. Happy modeling you lot. Johnny madness I tells ya. 19
f111guru
Such a wonderful build. Lots of ups and downs but that is what we do. What a beautiful aircraft you have come to build. You have used some materials that I have not seen. The Flory paint. I've over the years have used residual paint from brush and airbrush cleaning to spray for weathering. Had many trials and error to get it down. The result is similar. I've taken in all you've done on this and hope when I get done with my hobby room I can use these technics to build in some projects. Again what a beautiful lady. Ron VanDerwarker

The Spadgent
A good land rush last night saw this build almost come to a close. Due to awkward masking I found a hairy stick, (I really need to get some new ones) and painted away. I’m sure I’ll regret it later on. As suspected after removing the masks I got some leakage.😣 That was easily fixed with a cocktail stick and balls of steel. Eventually the three parts of the rear turret came together. I PE parts then got fitted. Fitted it looks great. See the light and fin on the pic above? I scratched them from clear sprue and plasticard. (I’ll flory the new bits later.) The little intake grills got added. Wing actuators. Tail fin ...... errr finny things. The two nose fins also got added. ( that was tricky) I had to crack off the UC doors to add the actuators. ( a little hellish I must tell you ) Then the front guns. All Fourteen cable cutters got added. Loosing the two extra ones I made to the carpet monster.👾 As you can see I got two props on. The final two don’t fot, I have put on the wrong pegs. 😵 they will need cutting back. So close yet so far. We out tomorrow night so she will get completed this weekend. Thankyou so much everyone for chipping in on this build. It’s been a tough one but you helped me through it. I’ll sign off properly when she’s done for good. Take care and sleep tight y’all. Johnny one post away.
