Thanks fella. Yes she is a bit of a big un. 👏🙌👏

I guess we won the football? Sorry I’m an “odd boy who doesn’t like sport”. To quote the late great Vivian Stanshall, I’m sure Germany will do just fine. 😀

Hya guys.

Appologies for the lack of Lancaster goodness over the past week

or so. Work has been cRaZy busy and any spare time I’ve been getting the boys bedroom converted from a 4 year olds room to a teenagers one.

28208252557_2fd8a6db60_b.jpg

seems if I’m not filling and sanding in my scale world I’m doing it in the 1:1 world. 😑

28208250567_4394e1c858_b.jpg

🤨

combined with birthday sleep overs, another fencing comp.

29205331448_43d6bc3343_b.jpg

And more flat pack than you can shake a stick at.

42172457165_4c9f6f9cba_b.jpg

I have been trying to keep up with your builds as mine has taken a bit of a back seat. It’s Gemma’s Birthday this weekend and she’s away with the girls tomorrow until Sunday so with the bedroom nearly done I might get a bit of time on the Lancaster. More than this bit which is all I have managed to do over the past week or so.

42358636804_ed31c36cdd_b.jpg

its a glued together substitute for the wing exhaust. Just needs cutting. Exciting huh. 🤣 I felt I had to post as it’s been a age. fingers crossed for some weekend plastic.

Take care you lot and Happy Modelling.

Johnny.

by the way the guns arrived. 🤸‍♂️

DIY, ugh. I've lost my love for that I'm afraid. Looks like yours is up to Spadgent standards though.

Are you letting him choose the colour? Dangerous in my experience - ours went for something dark. Not black, thankfully, but we still have a purple ceiling in the house 🙄

Looking forward to an update Johnny, when you're ready :)

Yes he chose the colours. Purple, (popular I see) green, white and black. He’s hit his goth phase early. Looks pretty cool to be fair. 😀

Hello Spad !

Great work in 1/1 world, I will start my bedroom in a few days….

Tearing plasters from the Walls, tearing the ceiling and close inspection of the spars...

Tearing the floor too, again inspection… Then insulate everything and including a brand new electrical wiring...

Aaaaand then rebuild Walls, floor and ceiling….

Modelling will suffer a lot in a few days...

The very old CC castle need a complete refurbishing, one bedroom done already !!

plus fixing glitches here and there…. 🤪🤔😰 And so… :drink:

Courage my friend, once it's done, it's over (ready for the new mem sahib's idea) :rofl2:

Sincerely.

CC

This Lancaster is going to be a museum piece!  Really stunning.

As you can all see nothing was achieved last weekend as birthdays took a front seat. I’m away watching the Cure this weekend so nothing this weekend either. We have however tidied up all the mess that the bedroom created so the Lancaster will be kickstarted soooooon my loves. 🤠

Happy Modelling chums.

Hey you guys. After what seems like forever I have managed a little time in the cave. 😵

I had a splendid weekend in Hyde park watching the Cure with my Father in law.

43304146411_fd688d96f1_b.jpg43254328822_d63f77fc21_b.jpg

correct attire for a goth gig right? 🤣

A feb time was had!

Just in case I booked Today off. No head ache to speak of so quality bench time ensued.   🤩

I had a quick look at the new guns.

Pretty good really.

41494548440_1bed746ec7_b.jpg

Enough of that let’s get to plastic. The new exhaust wasn’t right.

29434441108_d067d1b421_b.jpg

So I made a new one from the old one. Re shaped and fitted.

42399861165_db52b61b60_b.jpg

43304151101_7782c6e5d4_b.jpg

Now before anyone has the chance to stop me........

43304153061_624410a232_b.jpg

paint time. 😍 wellllll pre shade time.

42399861165_db52b61b60_b.jpg

half way through and looking good. I know the underside is black but I’ll make a slightly lighter colour to show the pre shade.

28434969987_d3c68acec1_b.jpg

the top got finished. Sooooo many lines.😅

42399860475_023fb7ba56_b.jpg

hopefully all those rivets will show through.

Here’s the underside finished.

43304150841_eaccf0c0d3_b.jpg

Remembering my Messerschmitt I added some squiggles in the pre shade.

28434965657_8cdfa14eb8_b.jpg

The flaps got done too.

28434970607_2d5dd4555f_b.jpg

Phew! That was a lot of lines.  I’m going to high light pre shade too but my mind wonders to green and brown. There are tonnes of different ideas.

42586131104_a32e13f398_b.jpg

I’m guessing the green is right. These two browns are both mixes for suggested raf brown but as you can see they are very different. I’ve seen examples of browns that look like both of these.

oh I don’t know. 🤨

does anyone have a good mix for raf brown? Tamiya please.

Maybe a bit more tonight. But I’m getting a pit waspish in this heat.

Thanks for any help on the colours and Thankyou for sticking with this long drawn out build.

Take care and as always. Happy Modelling.

Johnny boy. 🖤

52 + 49 is suggested to be better than the 52 + 64.

Maybe worth grabbing a pot of the Mr Color Dark Earth - C22 (or C369?)

Cripes, look at the size of that bug hiding under the Lanc.......!! (sorry, I'll get my :coat:)

But before I go, as to the dark earth quandry, I recently (well, last year) sprayed my SEAC P-47 with a Humrol rattle can that was supposed to be dark earth and it looked very similar (if a little more orange) to your 4 paint mix. When I got back to the model a few weeks ago I had a few areas that needed touching up, so brush painted on some White Ensign dark earth which looks very close to your 52 + 64 mix. As WEM (now Sovereign) paints seem to be generally well regarded for 'accuracy' I'd go for a colour close to that. For what it's worth.

I am not sure about the Tamiya mixes but I think the darker brown is close. Perhaps make it a bit more bronze-ish?  Brighten it up a smidgen?

Thanks. I think you’re right.

Hi Jonny,  i found this discussion helpful  for raf colours:

I followed dogsbody's suggestions and used 49 and 52 for the brown on a mk1 spit last year. I also liked his suggestion of 81 with a bit of 49 for the green.

Love this wip, going to look amazing when its done! Sam

Thanks. Yes I saw that one. I wish they would just do an RAF brown to match their green. Hopefully the Mr Hobby stuff will turn up soon. Glad you’re enjoying the lanc.

Hi Jonny

Looking good in the shirt and that Lancaster is looking absolutely lovely too.  I am afraid I cannot offer any assistance with your paint conundrum  as I don't get on with Tamiya paints at all.

 Keep up the good work.

All the best

Chris
