"To Remember The many" The Tamiya Lancaster 1/48

No, wait... I'm sure it was:-

Β

....( something about) holes in Blackburn Lancashire,

Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Haaaaall!

🎼🎡🎢🎹

Β

Did Blackburn build a Lancashire bomber?

It like... makes you wonder, man, you know?πŸ’«

Hello Spad,

You did a great job once again !

Both on your now lovely kitchen and the Lanc !

Finally riveting the way I do is also fine... Except for the fuselage !

I have now the last PE set for my Lanc too, it will be faster than doing that super detailling scratched !

I really like the way it's going, god job mate !!

Just a question.. Did your Lanc have the H2S radar fitted ?

If not, you have to sand down the proud circle on the underside.

I sanded it on mine, since Phantom did'nt carry it

Once againΒ πŸ‘Β Congrats my friend !!

Sincerely.

Yes I know what you’re saying. I’m not actually building the phantom, I’m building PA 474 Β when she was painted as the phantom whenΒ @isanengΒ started flying in her. Β From what I’ve seen the proud circle is there so I’m leaving it in place. I think I’ve done enough sanding for one aeroplane.Β πŸ¦‰

Hi Johnny,

Β

Yes, the raised circular mounting point is clearly visible under the fuselage. There is a corresponding round plug in the internal walkway that covers it, just visible in outline in the non-slip covering on the floor.

Kitchen is looking good fella, see, everything coming together slowly!

Indeed, not so bad if you have the time.

On 5/16/2018 at 12:57 PM, Biggles87 said:

The problem with my HGW rivets was of my own making, as usual. Instead of rivets I used something called ' silver lines ' which do not stand proud and disappeared under a coat of paint. The Micro-Mark ones, as well as being proud, were quicker because there was no film to remove after they were applied.

Β

John

These I hope stand proud. 🀞

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Rivets have continued in small amounts over the past few days but photos would be boring.

I have found that two packs was not enough by a lloonngg shot. So I cleared the BIG yellow of there remaining four packs. They will arrive in a day or two. πŸ˜ƒ

nothing done over the weekend as the boy has had his first fencing comp.Β

Wow. What great shots!

Β

You did better than me. I'm a complete muppet. I planned to ride over to Hendon after the Giro d'Italia stage finished. Plenty of time to get there... well, there would have been if I hadn't forgotten that I'd paused the coverage earlier in the day and was watching with a delay. I checked the time when it finished and was horrified to see it was ten to five. Jumped into my cycling gear and running cyclecross mount out of the door, I set off hammering like a loony across Norf London.* It was looking possible untilΒ I missed theΒ turn to ColindaleΒ and ended up at the Hendon station. Heading back up the Edgware RoadΒ I heard the roar of 4 Merlins somewhere up above. I pulled over just in time to see her pass right over my head.Β

Β

* Still, got a couple of Strava KOMs, so not a completely wasted trip.Β πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜…

Kitchen looking good and think about all the Brownie points you're earning !!!

Lancaster looks wonderful and I am sure that the riveting efforts will pay dividends when it catches the light when finished.

Top marks fella.Β

Looking really nice!

I hope you don't mind me asking but I'm just now reading up on the Tamiya Lanc and someone (somewhere) mentioned re-positioningΒ the rectangular side window to a more correct location.

Can anyone give any clues as to where the window should be moved?

From looking at photos it seems the proper position is a bit further aft and up, but I am open to other information on this issue.

Β

Thanks! :)

Why thank you.

If you look through this thread you’ll see where to move it to . I’ve moved mine, I wasn’t going to but I figured in for a penny and all that.πŸ˜‚. It’s slightly back a bit. Not too much of a pain to do but be careful all the changes can be a time sink and a half.

will you be doing a WIP?Β

About those windows.

While digging into the loft for something I didn't find, I did come across "Scale Models" the Jan 1976 issue, where the Grand Slam issue was being reviewed. From C. Rupert Moore himself:

"... the larger square window on each side of the fuselage should be moved back by .3 in.- this is an error also on the MAP scale drawings which should be corrected; a glance at any photograph showing this window on a full size Lanc. will show that the window is over the L.E. with its aft edge just forward of the centre line frame of the astro dome. The smaller window in front of these should also move back .125 in. to be correct."

Β

Back then the kit cost Β£7.99.
