Bristol Blenheim Mk 1, 211 Sqn, Greece 1940 /41

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

Well I've finally finished her, its not been without its problems and my intereptation of RAF Azure blue leaves something to be desired.

The Airfix kit of the Blenheim Mk1 builds into a pleasing replica of the real thing the only additions were the Barracuda Resin Intake and exhaust set (BR72196) and Xtradecals set X72202 everything else was out of the box.

And to accompany my FLY 1/32 Hurricane build I'll be building this..

I've loved watching this come together (in half the time of mine!) and I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of the lumbering beastie!

Hey Jon

It was you and Edward that inspired me to start mine - and aren't I glad you did! It's had its moments but I'm happy with the finished artical.

I'm looking forward to cracking on with my Hurricane but I'm more excited about the Defiant, if it's anything like the Blenheim it should be fun 😎👍

Cheers

That looks great - canopy framing in particular looks super-sharp. The mahoosive fin flash is fun too.

I had my share of fun with "too-blue blues" with an old Airfix IV last year so I know how it goes, but if you stood it on some sand and not a mirror I don't think anyone would notice...

That's a fab looking Blenheim.  I haven't seen many builds of this kit in the desert scheme.  A great rendition that has inspired me to dust off my one in the stash.

Morning Adian

Thanks for the comments mate. Ha the fin flash - that was the only part of the decals that I had problems with I just couldn't get them to line up so painting them on was the only real solution otherwise I would never have been happy with it.

Oh man that blummin blue, did you see my first attempt? When I bought it it looked way too blue but I stupidly thought it would lighten as it dried? Then once it was on I tried to convince myself it was right? However remaking and repainting was actually pretty easy and although it's still not right it's certainly better than it was.

That looks really good. Nice scheme too.

I swore never to build another Airfix Blenheim after doing my Mk IV, but after seeing yours I'm wavering..

Hiya

I really enjoyed the kit - Airfix did a great job, ok it's not without its fit issues but these are actually very easy to over come, I have another in the stash that's begging to be built...

Thank you.

The dessert scheme is pretty cool isn't it and it seems to suit the airplane really well 😎. So go on dig her out of the stash you know you want to 👍

What incredible work! Next time I build a kit, I hope I can convince you to show me how it's done again.

Hey Mr P

Thank you for the very kind words sir...however I think from past performaces you are a far more a capable modeller than me and your certainly far more articulate!

Good looking model. I really need one of these.

You know you do...it has a few fit issues but nothing that can't be overcome with a little sanding and filler!

Gorgeous Iain

All that glass framing!:o

A fantastic job all round. Love the camo.

Hey Neil

Thanks mate - actually the canopy masking wasn't that much of an issue as the frame work is nicely pronounced so it was just a case of covering with masking tape and using a sharp knife to trim the excess.

That is a very nice representation, camo job is great, canopy framing likewise, don't  beat yourself up about the undersides, i like it,  well done all round

Glynn

Hi mate

Thanks for the comments..I know what you mean about the undersides, I think the biggest problem I had was how I could make such a school boy error considering the amount of information available.

I'm pretty happy how it turned out.

Cheers bud

Great build and a great finish. It's always nice to see a model of one of the "lesser" squadrons.

Love the colours too - if it was mine, I'd be well pleased with the result.

Thanks for the kind comments theyre very much appreciated.
