I’ve got the HKmonster but my hang up is the markings I want to go with. I’ve always loved no.9 “Still Going Strong” but the problem here is the bulged bomb bay doors. When and where were these fitted? I wonder if Johnny had them while wearing nose art. Regarding “Grogs the Shot”, when would the yellow markings have been applied? One profile I’ve seen has two horizontal stripes on the vertical fins and others illustrate it with yellow fibs and wing tips. I surmise those were painted on for the daylight raids on the Eagle’s Nest. Does anyone have any more insight? Grog is 'my baby' You are correct when you say that they were applied for the Berchesgarten raid. S/Ldr Hedley Scott was the pilot and I knew the rear and mid-upper gunners as well as the Wireless op and also the son of the Flight Engineer. I got 'Jimmy' Johnson to give me the colour scheme for the motif on the nose, confirm by the Wireless Op . I then drew a draft. It was the lead aircraft of six that lead No1 Group into the attack. LM739 was by this time at Elsham Wolds and marked as Z squared . . HW@'Z2' Another crew, Canadian F/O Ted Forbes flew the aircraft more than any other crew and the rear gunner, navigator and flight engineer supplied photos of the yellow markings on the wings and the solid rudders and fins (NOT horizontal strips). The profile from my publication concerning 100 Squadron Any help with spec for this aircraft then give me a shout Ian
WV908
Quick question - i’m Building PA474 from the HK kit and it will be in flight so.... I need a crew! Can anyone recommend suitable figures to model the BBMF crew? I ideally just need the two pilots, navigator and someone to fill either the mid or rear turrets. If the pilot figure is also suitable for Spits and Hurris then great as there’ll be one of each escorting her Cheers, WV908

Chris Thanks Chris, at least this is the circle I was talking about. Cheers, Antti

Ossington 2
Regarding plastic crew. I suggest the figures supplied with the early Revell Spitfire and the Beaufighter.

A few little tweaks and that’s about as close to a BBMF pilot as we can get. I may buy a couple to modify them to suit the rest of the crew - PA474 sometimes has four crammed into the cockpit. brewerjerry
Hi its 2019 so i am trying hard to convince myself i need one of these, (as i have a couple of 1:48 lancs with updates stuff in the stash) wondering about the possibilities of making a hercules version, i have a couple of old revell beaufighters i can raid for cowlings, and can get replacement hercules engines. but wondering how do the HK merlin nacelles assemble to the wing and do the parts lend themselves to reasonable modification of the wings to a MKII lanc ? cheers jerry

I know some people can't stand video unboxings, but mine will at least give you the chance to see the wings as moulded with the Merlin Nacelles. Go to 7:20 to see the wing moulding.. I think you could be very happy?
