Eduard g-2 trop

Niknak

Recommended Posts

Hi all, as I'm about finished my Zg1 bf 109 e's. I thought I would start a g-2 in the markings of the g-2 trop yellow  6+ - of 6/jg53 sicily 1943 (on the rear of the kagero bf 109g/k vol 1).as I usually add resin cockpits and wheels( I have cast)  and seat belts. Paints used will be extracolor and Humbrol, pastels will be used for weathering.  These are the extras I started with (yellow parts are home cast). Seat belts are eduard superfabric. Thanks for looking. Nick. Here I go....

Hi all, I have started to apply the rlm 80. In the photo it looks like the rlm 80 is either warn or poorly applied. But to be honest.!  I'm not happy with it, not sure if I'm going to leave it or respray it so it's a solid colour!

Hi all, I've had a couple of  oh dear!!! moment with this build when fitting the exhausts I managed to push one of the location blocks of the inside if the fusalarge. The easiest way I could see of fettling it was to remove the front bulkhead and fitting the exhaust to the block and fitting it from the inside. Which I think would have been easier than from the outside. 2nd ops moment I split the upper joint when I removed the bulkhead. Resulting in resanding and respraying the nose

The exhausts are now fitted also the main undercarriage, and I've put the lenses onto the Gun sight using the coloured clear  plastic card as shown at the start of this build

Hi all , i have been on with making the tropical filter . i wasnt happy withh the kit part so i decided to try to use the closed clam shells of the kit part and use the main body of a quickboost trop filter. I made a cast of both of them .then cast the finished filter. (The finished filter is the bottom right).

2018-04-24_08-28-03

The filter i made. Painted rlm 78 before a wash of dark gray.

2018-04-24_08-28-20

The finished filter on the model

2018-05-02_07-02-09

I have also painted the white wall on the tail wheel and fitted it

2018-05-02_07-02-31

And i've started the weathering, ground pastels used for the wheels ( tyres painted humbrol 67 then tread drybrushed with light gray then the pastel brushed on) the pastel is also used on the wheel wells

2018-05-02_07-02-50

2018-05-02_07-26-06

The oil from the oil cooler is from the ak engine efects set

Hi all, the final part of the build is here. I have fitted the gun sight

2018-05-06_03-35-16

2018-05-09_10-04-43

I used the following to make the head armour a piece of copper from the electrical cable, the cast head armour and a strip of 5 thou plastic card

2018-05-09_10-05-23

2018-05-06_03-36-49

This is it finished and in place

2018-05-09_10-05-46

I used ground pencil grafite and ground brown pastel for the exhaust staining

2018-05-09_10-06-01

2018-05-09_10-13-20

2018-05-09_10-13-37

It basically finished apart from the radio aerial and canopie stop cable. Which I'll use stretched sprue painted copper(aerial) and black(canopie).

Thank you for looking and following as all ways comments welcomed. Nick
