Ali62 Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 So what’s it to be what shade of yellow / orange are we going to go for and I wonder about the purple one as well, we can all have a good close guess but I doubt anyone will bring out the exact Pantone colour or doubt we will find the exact colour matches in the BS paint references? I hope to have my kit soon, then I can peruse the seat / cockpit and the colours. 1
Dave Fleming Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Cockpit is interesting - the current one is painted Dark Admiralty Grey, but shows signs of wear to black. Contemporary photos of the all metal ones indicate it was black.
John R Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I have just received mine and there are a couple of decals without the the white surround in addition to the main sheet I have just started mine and am much impressed with it. Not perfect but so far ( cockpit section fitted to forward fuselage and rear section ready for glueing) everything has gone together with only minor adjustments. One problem ahead is that there is a tongue which goes through the fuselage to support and align the wings and the slots in the fuselage halves are undersize and will need careful opening out. Edit. I have just tried assembling the wings and the tongue is too thick to fit the slot in the wing so perhaps the tongue needs thinning as well or instead. John 1

So the slots are the right size and the tongue is too thick Might be easier to just replace it with card. I plan to build mine in a bare metal scheme and then refurb my Frogspawn kit in the lilac scheme with the kit decals. I hoping that it might be possible to have the nose poseable using magnets. I am not sure what support the tongue offers except perhaps to help get the wings lined up with the fuselage and each other as it is very flexible. There is part of me wondering if to spare the hassle of widening the slots in the fuselage by doing without the tongue. I had a similar to you about the old kit. A friend suggested making a 221 but I have a vacform for that. Decisions, decisions... John
