tomprobert
Evening guys and gals, More progress on the mammoth B-52 project to update you on. I've been beavering away on the cockpit and flight deck of late and have built a basic interior using the Sanger seats with a few mods. I've also used the Sanger control columns even though they were, in my humble opinion, a little oversized: There's scope to add more detail here but life is too short to waste time on making things that'll never be seen! I've made and added the escape hatches for the ejector seats above the pilots: And then the canopy was protected whilst some filler was added to blend everything in: With the filler dry everything was sanded and blended in: I'm quite pleased with that - the blackout curtains made from kitchen foil look the part, too! As I'm making this as a late 1990's to early 2000's machine, I've also made and added the ALQ-155 fairing on the nose from Milliput - these have since been removed on current BUFFS due to various avionics upgrades. There's a little more sanding and some scribing to be done around this area, but I'm almost there with the forward fuselage now. Happy days. At least I don’t have to worry about knocking stuff over all the time when I’m working n the patio - my modelling light has taken a few direct hits during this build! 15 hours ago, David H said: Very impressed with how all the paintwork turned out on the inside of the cockpit cab. -d- Thanks - to be honest I could have done a lot more in the flight deck area but decided just to do the basics as little will be seen. 10 hours ago, Pastor Rich said: Looking awesome, Tom! tomprobert
A little more work has been done around the nose section of the big BUFF - I am determined to get this as 'right' as possible as the nose area is so distinctive on the later models of B-52. I've done a little more remedial sanding and added in the missing panel lines. I then added the raised ribbing on the radome from Evergreen, and have also made and added the ejection hatches above the positions of the rear crew members from plastic card: Next came a coat of primer to blend it all in: I think that's about as good as I'm going to get it - passable from a few feet away! That's all for now, Tom
Victor K2
Awesome build so far. I was lucky enough to be stationed at R.A.F. Marham from the mid 70's till '83 when 4 B52's took part in the Giant Voice competition's and seeing these behemoths take off and land and get up close and personal with these parked on our lazy runway. Hope you have a "lazy runway" to park yours. Bob.

MattSimps74
Wow she looks fantastic Tom, bravo! 🏆What a project! Once upon a time I was eagerly awaiting Gerald’s 1/48 Victor, I think I still am. Any thoughts about representing the BUFF’s wrinkly flanks? Cheers, Matt
