PeterB
Thanks Richard, I think it was 1982 when I visited them in Hackney and I remember seeing an ad in SAM a couple of years later saying "trade enquiries to" an address in the Medway area which is where Tony moved when he became involved in some project with Henkel - something to do with model paints I believe. Probably wrong but I have always suspected he was connected with Compucolor.
PeterB
Anybody else seeing this message in the middle of Jockney's 1st post on page 1? "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /forums/index.php on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." Does not seem to be actually causing any problems but may need looking into by the Webmaster or somebody.

JOCKNEY
I have no idea why this is, I wasn't aware I was in any more trouble than usual ! It was a link back to Ades original thread which was the catalyst for starting this GB. I will report it to a grown up when I get in tonight. Cheers Pat
CliffB
I've just finished this Heller Cadet kit over in the Specialist GB. It was also released as a FROG Cadet kit (F182). Sorry it can't be added to the tally!
Rabbit Leader
That is sooooo neat @CliffB, I just love it! I think it looks so much better without the prop blades, very purposelike. Cheers.. Dave

Chopping the blades off is my personal preference for representing 'spinning props', but whatever one does is inevitably going to be a compromise. I'm plucking up the courage to give my FROG Sealand the same treatment (when the time comes).
malpaso
I just got a bagged Frog Tempest which includes a clear moulded prop disk option. I’d never heard of any manufacturer including such a thing but it’s on the instructions!

Nice one Cliff, this kit was the only one the wife built and painted donkeys years ago when she was trying to fathom out what this modelling lark was all about.Just looking over the builds going on and it's great to see the wealth of kits some touching 50 years old being brought back to life I had a couple through the post today one bagged that was literally falling to bits and the other sat in a musty browning box they really do deserve to be built for our fun and as a nod of appreciation to the folks at Frog(as well as Airfix and Matchbox in past GB's) that designed, molded, packed and dispatched them over the years.Cue Land of Hope and Glory......................

Do you see it too? I'm not alone?! Now my doctor will stop giving me Prozac ??? 😁😁 Maybe from this day all about FROG - TOP SECRET??? Blame the aliens! Aliens is green...frog is green too! It is logically obvious that FROG is an alien technology for conquering the planet Earth!! 😁😁😁 .....or it's was a DOS attack fan-hackers old Airfix on FROG? After all, they can’t allow more models to be built in FROG GB than in GB old Airfix??? 😁😁 More conspiracy theories? 😁😁 В.R. Serge 1

Can't remember coming across that before in a "modern" plastic kit though I remember visiting an aged relative who had flown Lancasters, and he had a model on display with clear disc props - may have been scratch built, perhaps from balsa wood. I know Frog had a "spin a prop" option as one is in this build I believe, but I thought that was a normal moulded prop. Then of course there was the motorized option like on Heather's Ju88 in the gallery. Are you going to enter it in the build? Pete in Lincs
I do remember the clear disc option from way back when. I know it was on the Tempest but I can't remember it on any other FROG kits.

The Tempest and Typhoon were pretty much my favourite aircraft during the early 70's and I built many of both the FROG Tempest and bubble top Typhoon, IIRC, both had the clear disc option, I don't recall if any others did.
adey m
It was Christmas 1970 in Alderton and the garden lay covered in snow. I had just built my AIRFIX Typhoon and my brother's AIRFIX Hurricane which we had found in our Christmas stockings. I could not wait for the village Post Office to reopen as I had my interest on a bagged FROG Tempest in their window, it would go with my Typhoon. The Tempest was moulded in a lovely light grey plastic with two fabulous FROG decal options, a splendid choice of underwing stores.....drop tanks, bombs or rockets.........and a optional clear propeller disc................... oh choices, choices............. and the Pink Panther show was on the television " it's the pink pink panther, the pink pink panther, have you ever seen a panther so pink ............. " happy times .................

stevej60
Agree Adey,I used to get my paper round wages on a Saturday morning which meant once the morning round was done back down the street to buy my weekly model and the usual hour just standing and looking at the shelves trying to decide which one,If the folk's were shopping in Newcastle on a Saturday well that was a sleepless night it meant the model shop,as you say happy days! 3

We had 6 inches of the stuff overnight, after a light dusting during Christmas Day. My brother and I were amazed to see a huge bright flash early in the morning on Boxing Day, we waited for the thunder but nothing came! We always wondered what caused that, possibly a power line... I ended up with an Airfix Scharnhorst that Christmas... All the best, Ray

No staff discounts in those days. But as he did not stock Frog kit I am going OT here.

JOCKNEY
Yes back on line via phone but iPad isn't playing ball. I can't seem to find how I report the error message on post #1 on this thread via my phone. If someone can do this for me it would be greatly appreciated. Also I found F205 the Do17 in the stash, very tempting to start another build thread with Finnish markings, goodness knows if I'll ever finish them in time ! Cheers Pat

Rabbit Leader
Dear Frog GB members. Just a quick prod to those of you (which includes me) who have build threads on the 3rd, 4th and 5th pages...... time for an update, wouldn't ya say? Let's see if we can all put something down in our respective threads before the next weekend rolls over. Thanks for that. Cheers.. Dave
