Yes do go to Guernsey. Our first boating trip of the season Jersey to Guernsey..

Lovely   Plus you have the Islands of Sark & Herm just 10 minutes by boat.

The Channel Isles are just beautiful. Came in 1962 to Jersey for a year.

Architectural experience on small projects after working in London.

I have been chained to the place for near 60 years. The shackles will stay for as long as I live.

Happiness.

Taking my dog for a walk yesterday afternoon - that's her in my profile pic - and a car pulls up beside me. Window comes down and the driver says "that's a bear" and then "she's just spectacular". I grin foolishly and say thanks. Car disappears. Still makes me smile.

The 'Out of Office' option in company mail systems makes me inexplicably happy today, somehow.

Maybe it's got something to do with the 2 weeks leave..

but it's the little things you must also cherish :P

Yes that is best Vince. Living in the Channel Isles is a winner in this respect.

Wow Jersey is inundated with visitors. Buses packed.

Spoken to a few. Never been lovely island & so clean.

I got in from shopping.

Very hot here today

I needed a really cold drink

Got a bottle of what I thought was a mixed fruit drink out of the fridge

Poured a pint

Started to drink it down

Then realised it is a fruit flavoured mead I'd put into the fridge

 :drink:    :drunk:

Laurie is right - the CI are a great place to family holiday and can thoroughly recommend it.  Its also a financial centre and I just love all those chaps with Ferrari's, Astons and so on all doing the maximum 40MPH allowed on all the Islands roads.  Wonder if they ever get to use third gear? :D

Mrs O’D getting better after COVID.

Also, getting this through the post. Did my training three years ago but assessment was delayed by the pandemic. Finally got it done last month. Mountain Leader next…

I've got a new job lined up to start at the beginning of November.

A book I've been working on about the Czech Republic is almost finished and close to going to press. It's the first book I've ever written and the process has been a real adventure and an  education.

This coming weekend, the annual NATO Days show will take place in Ostrava and it will be the first time an F-35 will be at the show. Between seeing an F-35 and a flying demonstration of the A400, both for the first time, I'm quite excited indeed about this edition of the show.

Waking up this morning & taking the patch off my left eye.

Seeing with it a clear picture of the world.

Cataract removed yesterday.

Cataracts on both eyes removed now. Superb can see detail on

my kit under construction  with out magnifiers.

Over the moon.

Congratulations, that's wonderful news!

The steelwork for a desk I'm making for myself and my partner is almost finished, now got to get onto making the top and drawer carcase.

About 15 minutes ago (03.46) I finally got through to the application for the special £100 debit card everyone in N.I. over 18 y/o is getting

Now I await confirmation that I'll get one

In Jersey every one of the population got a card for a £100.. This was end of last year. Made difference to shops & businesses. & families.

The N.I. gov is copying that. We were to get this money last autumn but they put us into lock-down instead.

Today - two things

1. I finally found a decent looking cup 1.5 x my normal tea mug size. More tea in one go

2. Bought some plasticine in a B&M. I've been looking for some over a month. I use it in my mould making of model kit parts and other items

One of my best friends is planning on proposing to his partner this Christmas which makes me very happy because they're perfect for one another. He's asked me to make a jewellery box for her which he can put the ring inside. No pressure then! 🤣
