KFIR C10 Colombian Airforce AMK/ Wingman / Aztec 1/48 -- finished!

Recommended Posts

the most recent upgrade of Colombias's Kfirs incorporates some type of RWR on the front of the fin's top, as well as some additional detectors below the - scratch was the only way to tackle these ;)

Not sure if it is too late but there is another small aerial under the exhaust for the new upgrade. It is mounted on the same part that has the chaff/flares.

Another thing, Colombia uses SPICE 1000 and the one on the Skunkworks set is a SPICE 2000. As far as I know, there is no kit for the 1000 version.

Congratulations for the great work with the conversion!

thanks for your compliments!

first: it is never too late.....

but I would need a nice pic showing the aerial....

regarding the Spice, yes, I noted that the one shown on the promotion picture set, is first a photo load out only  ;) and second shows a winged extended range Spice 1000.  But does this exclude the possibility of a 2000? at least I think that the pylon is rated for 1000kg/ 2000 pounds...

yeah, no Spice 1000 in 1/48....! Isracast maybe in the future? does it fit the F-35I internally?

so may question... sorry ;)

Well, I am not an expert on Kfirs...I only know about the Spice because I plan to do the same as you are doing now! :)

I have some pictures at home and I will check those later. I also have a Combat Aircraft magazine with an article about Colombia's Kfirs.

Nice work Werner.

By the looks of things it won't be too long before the decals go on.

yeah.. clear coat is missing....

added the yellow on the fin top, yellow is ALWAYS a pain to paint....

  • 2 weeks later...

last night was decals night!

I used a mix of Aztec and AMK decals,

20180323_230936_1

the Aztec Dazzling Kings II decal sheet  provided all the main markings, because although AMK has Comombian markings, they are of 2 earlier styles... using dark blue or only black outline for the national insignia and squadron markings

20180323_233453_1

walk areas are from AMK, the Aztec ones simply too fine and delicate to apply... ask me.....

20180323_233500_1

AMK mainly because they are a bit easier to apply, but Aztec provides more stencils in Spanish.... still miss some red warning text....

decals nearly  finished...

cheers!

some progress.....

not too motivated, ...

some PE work on the landing gear

20180408_133119_120180408_200946_120180411_233350_120180411_235503_1

and, as AMK does not provide any seatbelts, and Colombian Kfirs use the old style MKIV ? seat with complicated and therefor impressive harness, I invested in anoher PE set as well...

I think it is worth the effort!

still have to do the weapons.... and finsih the landing gears!

soooo,

hopefully second to last update, yesterday's night shift results:

20180504_011839_1

removal of the canopy masks did not reveal anything unpleasant!

20180504_011817_1

Lightning pod mounted on one of the shoulder pylons . looks interesting to say the least! considering that this is a ~1956 based airframe....

20180504_010458_1

the Python and Derby missiles benefit a lot by the decals,

Academy for the Python, Skunkworks/ Kinetic for the Derby, which unfortunately comes without markings form HPM....

20180504_011854_120180504_011917_1

missiles and antennae to be mounted later tonight.... 😜

cheers!
