A borrowed pony, with such a weird color !!

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears,

Here I go, first RFI in 2018, I will try to keep the pace of one kit per month....:christmas:

Soooo, Let's go to Algeria, in Mid 1943, little friends are now engulfed in the big game beside the brits !!

I have a soft point for the 112nd Sqdn but this time I had a go for its sister Sqdn !

The 225th sqdn suffered from a lack of recce Aircraft and here's the nice result !

39000659625_d25fd3155e_b.jpg

according to an article from the MAM, the 225th received 4 P-51 Mustang...

To make look like their stablemates, the mustang received some Mid stone paint directly on the Olive drab/ Neutral grey U.S paints !!

That was war after all... Can't resist a weird painting !!:devil:

39000659645_e37851aace_b.jpg

Now, the oversized roundels ?? Also Normal... Intended to cover the U.S Markings !!

Needless to say, the painting has been made on the field with whatever was at hand !

39000659655_14ec47789d_b.jpg

To be continued right now...

Here is the WiP, but as usual with me there's 3 Mustang on the go

39000659675_6d3d8b12ac_b.jpg

The interior has been thoroughly modified, the camera bay is now a little bit more conform to the 1/1 model

Armour plate added, eduard seatbelts and so on

39000684175_80de88a973_b.jpg

so I first painted the P-51 as an U.S Aircraft and added the mid stone...

Decals came from various origins, White lettering came from a Xtradecals sheet

Roundels came from a Typhoon sheet, stencils came from a kits World sheet

39000659685_7fd8b3f691_b.jpg

As usual with AM kits, there has been lots of sanding...

I added the early flared exhaust from Ultracast

39000684195_6ac5838f7d_b.jpg

Let's have some fun now !!

I mean, the family shots

39899973541_54c272f24b_b.jpg

First one with its only MTO friend... for that while...

And now let's see some phylosophical différences in matter of an U.S fighter !!

39899973531_beac68717d_b.jpg

Wow and they did the same job, almost ...

39000684235_5cf1b7c51a_b.jpg

The Thud is a big beast for sure !

39899973521_17070bc858_b.jpg

and the last one, I really like that one 'cause the pony show clearly what he has been made for...

Ok Dears, I'm open to comments

I hope that you'll enjoy the show, I really like unusuals subjects.

The next 2 will be a bit more conventionals...

Sooo Take care Gents !

And have a good modelling time !

Sincerely.

Odd - the colours seem to change from photo to photo

Not odd at all – a common phenomenon when using a camera's automatic white balance.

For consistent colour rendering, especially under artificial lighting, you should always use manual white balance against a white target, such as an ordinary printer paper under the current lighting.

Kind regards,

Joachim

Great model of a very interesting field modification!

At the beginning of the Cold War, a Swedish Air Force P-51D (J 26 in Swedish use) was modified with a vertical camera between the tail and the fuselage fuel tank. In 1948, the Swedish test pilot made a brazen photo reconnaissance over the Estonian (Soviet Union at the time) Baltic islands, looking for rocket ramps. There were none, incidentally, but a number of Swedish J 26 fighters were subsequently similarly modified to S 26 standard (S for 'spaning', Swedish for reconnaissance). End of rant…

Careful and imaginative modelling – top marks for looks and originality!

Kind regards,

Joachim

Unusual looking Mustang, thanks for bringing it to our attention. A Kittyhawk in the same colour scheme would go very well alongside it!

Cheers

John

Hello John,

I've a serie of P-40 on the stash, but with 112nd markings, they can go alongside too

Thank you.

Without digging mine out, I think the fuselage roundel has a slightly wider white ring than standard but otherwise very much AOK.

Steve.
